The East has gotten completely boned by the SEC at every turn, so you have to give them a break.
1992 expansion: west gets a team with a national championship under its belt and a somewhat strange, rabid fan base, East gets a team with practically 0 history and 2nd best in its own state.
2012 expansion: same story.
The East’s best game of the year is a neutered neutral site game.

I would say the West was better, but it wasn't by much.
