Is there a penalty on the home team if fans throw things on the field?

Like delay of game or unsportsmanlike?

No reason, just curious...

In my experience, throwing shite on the field tends to get calls reversed in your favor. So I'm going to go with no.

Steep fines
No penalties
Except in the big12. They have home team penalties.

Throwing trash on the field is to get your team’s penalty reversed.

Hopefully schools, when they think this is a possibility, would send out a PSA to their fanbase not to do it and have video cameras all over that can zoom in on the perpetrators and punish them accordingly.

Apparently not

We learned this first hand when we were kicking the shite out of Texas a few years ago and their super classy fans threw beer bottles onto the field after they picked off Carson Beck but it was ruled not an interception.

In fact if anything you get a reward. Sark had to come onto the field to stop the inbreds in attendance from throwing a hissy fit but they managed to bully the refs into giving them the ball

Not like it mattered though we still kicked the shite out of them and Jalon Walker still probably haunts their dreams

In Austin, if you throw a bunch of junk on the field, you can get a call reversed, fwiw.

Trashy teams throw trash.

I hope golf balls don’t hit one of the referees.

That’s usually handled at the conference level. Sec has usually just admin penalties eg fines, alcohol sale prohibitions, etc

The big 12 issued a New rule (deseret) last year that would require 2 warnings then a 15 yarder

Normally yes. In Austin the refs use long delays from trash being thrown on the field to make an unorthodox review in Texas’ favor.

Sec stadiums have this. The rule is to stop game play and review security video to identify any and everyone who throws shite. They are then banned from all sec sporting events for the remainder of the calendar year.

This is an SEC rule.
You know what happens when you break sec rules don’t yall?

They can only throw LSU fans on to the field without penalty.
