What?

Marino is considered one of best QBs ever. He was also an 8x All Pro (0 for Rivers) and won an NFL MVP (0 for Rivers).

I’m going with no, but an argument can be made.

That is my sentiment as well. He and Eli are interesting. Give Rivers even a Super Bowl appearance and it's a no-brainer yes. Take away Eli's Super Bowls and its a no brainer no. Won't be bothered either way.

That is insanely wrong!! Marino is rightly considered perhaps the best QB of his time, and at least got to a Super Bowl.

That still gives Philip Rivers as many Superbowl rings as Dan Marino. Barry Sanders, Gale Sayers, Warren Moon never was measured with that stick.

How many MVP's does Rivers have? Was he ever considered even a top 3 QB at any time he played? Its silly to compare Rivers to Marino, who is routinely considered one of the top pure passers in NFL history.

If you think Ben or Eli deserve to get in then Rivers definitely deserves to get in. He's their on field superior in every way except the team award of SB wins.

I disagree with this. I would take prime Roethlisberger over prime Rivers every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Why should Marino's career determine Rivers' fate? I just mentioned 3 great HOFamers and there are many more just like them. The greatness of a HOF player has never been measured this way in the past. How hypocritical to change the rules now.

No. Not seen as on the level with the top tier of his contemporaries; never made it to the big game (2 differences with Marino).

I didnt say it should, nor do I think it should. My post was in response to the one that said "if Marino is in, Rivers is." That to me was stupid. Then I responded to your post comparing the two's accomplishments. As I said earlier, I would lean no to Rivers getting in, but I get the argument.
