That high? No

But higher? Yes

Y'all are the 2nd at best or 3rd best program in your own state, and have to fight for recruits

We ARE the program in our state, we get them all.
We have better tradition
LSU is a bigger brand than Florida.

Just is what it is

On field I can't argue with you.

HOWEVER

In terms of a brand LSU has never been hotter in the eyes of the high school athlete.

Burrow
Skenes
Chase
Angel
Jefferson
Livvy
JD5
Half of the talking heads of ESPN
Shaq on Inside the NBA

When kids/recruits turn on the TV they're likely to be looking at someone that they recognize comes from LSU.

Florida doesn't have that (nor do really any other schools at the moment).

I’d give an edge to lsu there but UGA has a case for coming close to having that

Florida is a much better university, and Gainesville is better than Baton Rouge.

…but neither of those are football.

It'll be interesting to see how UF goes after now. As an Ole Miss fan, who do you think they should target?

BR is basically a university surrounded by a slum.

Half of the college towns in the SEC are amazing, and the other half range from forgettable to horrid.

None of that seems to matter though, honestly. You can't view it through the lens of someone who is in their 30s or older, or someone who went to school but didn't deal with practice and team meetings.

Athens is gorgeous, but those players probably see a tiny portion of it - and when they do, they're likely just trying to find someplace to let their hair down. I seriously doubt a deep comparison of the surrounding town has a lot of weight when recruits consider a school.

If it did, then UCLA and Fordham (after making the jump to FBS) would kick everyone's arse in recruiting - how would folks compete with Los Angeles and New York in terms of night life for a 19 year old?

Just because, I, personally would prefer to visit Oxford or Athens doesn't mean 19 or 20 year old me would have the same opinion.

This. I don’t think LSU is head and shoulders above UF, but it is a better job. This isn’t saying UF isn’t a top 10 job in the country at the absolute worst, it’s just that LSU is a top 5 at worst.

They should do whatever it takes to get Kiffin, and find 200million in NIL.
They could be championship team next year

The biggest advantage that LSU has over Florida is that there is no in-state competition for recruits. It's a borderline cult in Louisiana with how much in-state kids love LSU. Even if the program is a mess, they'll stay home because "dey LSU." Miles and Orgeron were morons, yet the vast majority of bluechip in-state recruits crawled over broken glass to play for them when there were more stable, and frankly, better programs that offered them.

All are better jobs than LSU at the moment. Every. Single. One.

LSUs admin has cared more about winning over the last 15 years. To me, that’s the biggest difference.

UF thought being “UF” was good enough to win was the pervasive attitude from Spurrier and Foley. Foleys comments about not wanting to get into an arms race was very telling.

There are arguments to be made about recruiting grounds and bad coaches winning at LSU too. LSU also has the recent track record of winning more than us over the last 10-15 years.

I will say, if UF gets its shite together, it has as much potential as anyone. Larger student body, much larger alumni base, better academics, much better state in population size and economically.

Excellent take. LSU makes no bones they will do anything to win in football to the point where they will prioritize football over academics probably more than any other school. Most schools look at football as a way to increase their school's brand that they can leverage into more money for academics but LSU really doesn't seem to. It just is what it is, I honestly think LSU is the pro team for Louisiana more than the Saints.

UF got complacent after they had so much success with Spurrier and then Meyer. Reminded me a lot of A&M in the late '90s where we had won 8 Conference Titles and Texas, LSU, and OU were beaten down so we took our foot off the gas. Let the facilities lapse and made some disastrous decisions with the big one being hiring Fran at the same time OU, LSU, and Texas spent big on facilities and hired Stoops and Saban. We looked up and we were proper fricked and falling down a well we have been trying to climb out of since.

On paper there is no reason UF isn't a Top 5 school every year. If UF is good they dominate recruiting in Florida and they can pull kids from elsewhere. They have everything you need to succeed. The only fly in the ointment to me is they don't seem to have the monster donors that are willing to just write checks for whatever to buy coaches and players. Maybe they do but they don't seem as passionate as other places and are the opposite of LSU when it comes to how they treat athletics. It's definitely about completing the picture for being excellent at everything and not just about football as a driver at UF from what I can see. I like Florida quite a bit btw and respect the hell out of the school, one of the best run publics in the country.

Understandably this is an LSU site and there is massive bias.

But can someone actually explain to me with facts, not emotions, how LSU is superior for Florida?

Outside of a stone age natty, both are about dead even on the stat sheets. (Another reason why cancelling the series is dogshit).

While I'm a Florida fan, I do appreciate LSU and their culture. But to say the coaching job there is head and shoulders above Florida's is something I legitimately cannot follow.

I think Florida since Urban Meyer's last year (2010) will in 2026 be on their 6th coach, Meyer in 2010 then Muschamp, Mac, Mullen, Napier and whoever is coach in 2026. So that is 6 coaches in 17 years.

LSU in that time frame, somewhat more stable Miles as Miles was here in 2010, then, O, Kelly and how is our coach next year so 4 coaches. Now we need to slow down with his next one as Miles 2016 to whoever is coach in 2016 is 4th in 11.

Also note that Miami is once again a player with HS recruiting and NIL and Florida state 2 years ago was 13-0 and if QB does not get hurt in CFP, but Norvell who lived by the portal has died by it last 2 years with bad QB decisions he brought in. U can't win big with bad QB play these days.

LSU with the right coach still can leverage in-state HS talent, which Kelly did not do (We are at our lowest level of LA HS players on this roster that I can remember) and not have 2 big boys like Miami and FSU in state to deal with.

Facts are that regionalism in college football has been dead since the early 2000s, well before NIL. The state of Florida has been poached for years for talent. But now recruiting is nationwide. The state lines don't mean that much anymore and less to players. Kids are drawn by the program, the money, and the coach, not the state that they represent for better or for worse.

Yet LSU pulls 9 of the top 10 in Louisiana every year. Louisiana produces a lot of talented football players. They come to LSU because they love LSU.
