Head coaches aren't getting paid millions a year to look on internet recruiting sites to go after recruits. They send position coaches to recruiting areas for which they are assigned and the head coach makes the final evaluations.

He did but there are a lot of Ole Miss fans that want to act like his “poor recruiting” is why we sucked under Luke. Freeze’s recruiting was far from poor

I'm aware of what the optimal setup is, but coaches do care about recruiting rankings. It's something they can point to when insecure or trying to build hype and Hugh loved them. This isn't speculation.

eh he got Jaxson Dart, Jaylon Robinson, Ulysses Bentley, and Zach Evans, among others. So it seems he recruits skill positions particularly on offense well enough. But it does seem to be lacking on the defensive side of the ball, I think you could would say he's behind bama, uga, lsu, tamu, uk, tenn, florida as far as recruiting front 7 guys? And maybe even Arkansas.

Our d line is as deep as it has been in a decade. Lb depth is a question. We have some dudes on the back end. If LB gets figured out this defense could be above average. Look the ceiling on this team is probably 9 wins. But we will be very competitive.

You need key position players for what he does. He will snag them up and adjust. A guy like him can do more with less and take advantage of the opportunity cost to use elsewhere.
I don’t know how he recruits but I assume if he has a lock on a player it’s pretty tight. He seems like a guy to analyze another and have them buy in.

I mean, why not? You’re getting players that have playing time at the college level as opposed to a high school kid who may or may not make it at this level.
We have so many portal players coming in this year that it will be interesting to see if they can gel and play together in the first season. It’s a live experiment to test the strengths and weaknesses of portal recruiting.

And for the record, I will eat crow on Kiffin at Ole Miss. I really thought he would roll out one of the worst defenses in Div 1 football along with a pass happy offense (Leach 2.0). I was wrong. You guys kicked our arse all over the field last year.
I also think he seems to have the right approach in Oxford. Do what you can HS recruiting wise for a few years, go heavy on building the program with known transfers, and with some success, garner attention from more talented high school recruits. It will be interesting to see what he can with Dart. And Zach Evans is a beast. I really wanted him in BR.

If you pay him 7 million a year he will be loyal. He got out of Knoxville as fast as he could and the Volunteer fanbase will never get over it. And I think that’s just great.

I think he is doing a fantastic job at Ole Miss. I really do. He has energized the fanbase, has talented roster, decent coaches, and utilizes the portal well.
He gets social media cred with recruits.
What more could OM ask for really? Ohh, he is winning as well overall.
I love pittman at Arkansas, as well. I would like for Pittman to learn to utilize social media better overall like Muss/Kiff.
