Is it true that Ole Miss, South Carolina, Va Tech also offered Wright?

According to Wright, it is. LINK

So this would mean there is no difference between what LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Va Tech did. And the only reason for the media attention is that he chose LSU over those other schools?

Do I have this right?

South Carolina didn't do anything. We covered this yesterday. The information was not from a credible source.

We asked for his number and we weren't able to match it. That was the extent of the interaction.

I mean, it matters in the sense that I'm trying to figure out if LSU did anything unique here, or if this is blowing up because the media loves Lane stories for the clicks.

Kiffin and the Tigers reached out to multiple players on NFL rosters or their representation in an effort to get them to bring a lawsuit against the NCAA and return to school, per sources. This includes some of the players who ended up in the Louisiana lawsuit, which sources have pointed out wasn't tried in Baton Rouge by accident.

Yes, LSU did something unique here.

His agent would certainly lie to drive up prices but at this point it doesn't seem like lying is going to help him. So there maybe some truth to what his agent is saying.

Has not been proven.

And could just as easily been us reaching out to players and seeing if they had interest in coming back to college and when they said yes, we said "this is how you can do that".

No one forced them to do anything. And I guarandamntee LSU wasn't the only school doing it. Everyone is just focused on Lane Kiffin hate brigade in the media and other fanbases.

Texas has a guy that participating in NFL minicamps but because he didn't sign his name on a contract, he can come back. And no one is saying shite

South Carolina never seriously looked at Dae'Quan Wright. I mean if saying "Hey the new ruling might apply to this guy" but that's really not different then saying "Hey, maybe I should jump of this bridge. Maybe not, that's a bad idea". So if what SC did is considering/recruiting a player, then sure, you're 100% right. Most likely the real reason Wright said that to get more NIL $$$ from LSU. If you say others are interested, true or not, then you value goes up.

We have a decent TE room, but are short in the defensive backfield. So who SC did look at was D.Q. Smith, a former SC player who left from last year's SC team. He played for us last year and already knows most of the team. but again SC decided that it was not a path they wanted to go down either.

Here's what Beamer said in his presser Tues.

quote:

"I care about DQ, and he's done a lot of great things for South Carolina football, valuable member of our program for a long time, and will always be," Beamer said. "But in this instance, not real in-depth. We really like the group that we have right now."

quote:

For me, it's always about doing what's best for the football team," Beamer said Aug 25. "I'm not a big fan of adding players this late

quote:

"I think that's a tough situation when you got a guy that's been on an NFL team and then comes back and is playing college football after he's been playing professionally," Beamer said. "I don't think that that's a road that that anyone wants to go down.

Been quite a journey for LSU fans on this board this week.

In a matter of hours, from "that's right we're doing this, and you can't do shite about it!" to "other people were doing it too."

I watched the agent's interview. He never named names.

Because that particular interview is the only way for him to release info on the schools that reached out. How naive of me.

I've been too busy with work to keep up with the details, but if LSU broke any rules they should be punished like anyone else who breaks rules.

But if they didn't break rules and were just doing what other teams did, I don't understand the outrage.
