As if somebody cares about A&M. Don’t be a bitch. Claim them as your team on your profile

think there are some early warning signs that CFB is a bubble that might burst one day

For starters it’s becoming gradually more regionally centric to the south and fan interest in going to games is at the lowest I’ve ever seen. Then you’ve got other X factors like the CTE stuff lingering.

Ratings are super strong but it will be interesting to see what the future of the sport is at the turn of the next decade.

The Marxists/Communists/Progressives are actively trying to destroy the sport. Don’t @ me.

Why were they “prestigious”? Because people acted liked they were? Were still meaningless

Perception is reality. If players/fans find them prestigious, even if they’re deluded, then they are meaningful games.

That changed upon the arrival of the playoff, EXACTLY as Saban said it would.

That is part of it. Too many bowl games have watered down the experience of it. Sometimes the match ups are not well thought out.

This year they should have swapped Baylor to the Cotton against Memphis and paired Penn State and Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
Games would have been better matchups and the Sugar Bowl would have had a much bigger crowd.
Cotton Bowl would have been packed too.

But yes the playoffs have hurt the Bowl’s attendance.

My suggestion is to create a 16 team playoff with the first round being played at the higher seeds campus. The final 8 would use the 7 biggest bowls.

Beyond that keep the next best oldest 10 bowls for the next best 20 teams that are outside the playoffs.

The you have 36 teams playing in the postseason and the bowls will grow again in importance.

Ignorance is bliss I guess....haha

I guess nobody told them beforehand they were meaningless.

One of these days it will convince them to scrap it all for a bigger playoff. It’s kind of interesting how the bowls have made it this long. Every other sport needs a playoff to keep things interesting at the end.

How meaningful are a lot of games? Once you’re out of the conference running, if you have an NFL future, why not pull a Fournette or Christian McCaffrey?

That will happen more and more. But only so many kids can be top 5 picks.

National exposure was harder to come by in the past. No longer is that the case.

Citrus Bowl was packed today. The CFP Committee should just rank the Top Four teams in the final ranking and not set the rest of the New Years Six matchups. Leave all of the rest of the games to the bowls.

8 or 16 teams?

FFS...LSU destroyed OU. You want to see them frick up a #16?

Stop killing the importance of every week in the CFB season.

The bowls are crap. It is THE SEASON that matters.

Do you have your mom proofread and edit every fricking one of your miserable posts? Pathetic, but not shocking for such a t-shirt fan as you

You obviously meant to reply to someone else. Four teams is plenty.

A bunch of them are owned by ESPN. They control the costs, and they don't need to have great attendance for the network to make lots of money. Even most of the ones operated locally aren't really struggling,

No, but I can help you edit yours. Change it to “worst.” If you graduated from A&M, ask for your money back.

No playoff no care for most of the big teams... used to be about traveling to a new spot and making a mini vacation but now bowls are pointless

As many predicted, the playoff killed enthusiasm for bowls.

They were always mostly "meaningless" but fans still perceived them as meaningful.

The playoffs have changed that perception.

Its really not that enjoyable to go to a bowl game if you are over 40. People get drunk, act a fool, and it's insanely loud.

Now excuse me, I'm off to lather up w Bengay and apply Icy Hot patches.

Not a damn one of these matter other than message board shite talk fodder and, perhaps, recruiting on a small level.
The Rose bowl means nothing. The Sugar bowl means nothing.
That is sad to me

The automatic tie ins don’t help either. UVA had no business in a NY6 bowl game. Forcing a big 12 matchup in the Sugar was a mistake too

The match ups aren't as good now and even half the players and coaches don't care about the games. The fans definitely aren't.

That and there are too many bowls and too many teams. It waters it down.

Most of the matchups were poo. Texas vs A&M would have been great.
