I went to DU. Winters were surprisingly not that bad. Sunny and clear skies. Chicago is much worse.

I've never heard Denver referred to as cold. You want cold? Visit Chicago with the humidity coming off those lakes.

That is cold.

Why we tolerate the B1G & ACC. Somebody has to play those noon Eastern games! Like an opening act!

I would say he’ll yes, move these games to late afternoon games. Nothing worse than sitting in a hot arse stadium in the middle of the day. I went to UF for a game one year and thought we were going to die from the heat. Got up and got under the cool zone fans and did not have to convince the wife to get out of the heat.
Now days just watch it outside under my misting system with cold beer and burbon. 10X better.

Nights are the reason I stay in Colorado. If it ever gets hot during the day (usually a week or two a year) I move down to the basement

No AC necessary unless you have a second floor in CO.

We were in Vail Village a couple of weeks ago for a wedding. Had never been before. When we checked into our hotel room it was a tad warm. We like the room cold in the summer. Imagine my surprise when I went to adjust the thermostat and it had two settings: Heat and Off ??

But you’re right, the evening temperature dropped to a pleasant degree.

Many of the older buildings in CO don't have AC. It wasn't generally thought to be needed until maybe half a dozen years ago.

Heat and Off

Same experience, but imagine it's in a house you just bought!
We learned the windows drill real quick--open at 7 PM, close at 10 AM. Made it bearable for several years.

While we are so concerned about football players and fans, shouldn't we all show the same concern for the millions of people who work outside every day in the heat? Think of the roofers if you want to worry about guys in the heat.

People adjust to the heat. My nephew owns a company that lays utility cable and he and his crews work outside digging ditches everyday. I used to always ask him how he does it. He said he get use to it, you hydrate all day, every day and night, and you never step into the ac during the course of your workday. These guys will be just fine, they practice in the heat to get use to the heat and they are young and are obviously a lot tougher than us posters on this board.

No. The weather is changing. Hotter summers, colder winters, more powerful hurricanes, droughts and wildfires are happening across the world and unfortunately it’s not gonna get any better

My grandmother (God rest her soul) would be deep in the book of Revelations right now, preaching "these are the end times, better get your life right with the Lord."

The yankee teams can take the noon and 2:30 kicks and give us the night time slots.

Just who do you think this thread is dedicated to? The college football fan. And they aren't all digging ditches through the week. We had better use good sense and a smart plan for an afternoon hotter than a Catholic Purgadory.

Think for just a moment about fans who are going to these games with certain medical predispositions, on top of getting older. Asthma, Heart Disease, Lung conditions, Diabetes, obesity, and pregnancy, to name just a few conditions.
A ton of people at these games are showing up and not all are in great health. Again, fans need to be smart for everyone in the family. Folks need to take fluids with them that affect electrolytes in the body. Simply replacing water loss with water might not help some of these folks with health issues going in.

sect 313 in Sanford Stadium student section in the 90's were some of the hottest experiences in my life.

Sounds like you need to toughen up

I actually got heat stroke at a SC/UGA game in Athens in the late 90's as a student. Wasn't drinking the appropriate liquid for the weather. Was probably the hottest game I was ever at in Athens.

It's hotter now. Not going to say it can't be handled, but the way I was as a student I'd probably die today. Water wasn't on the menu.

The truth hurts, I guess, because what I said is true. I'm not fat and can spend hours outside. We haven't had a single day over 100 yet in north Mississippi so it's not as hot of a summer for us as usual. Kind of funny seeing everyone else complain about the heat.

We've had a handful of 100+ degree days in South Mississippi this summer, which is pretty rare.

We also haven't had hardly any rain, which is even rarer.

With all the emphasis on safety these days it seems heat exhaustion/stroke is not considered.

But like clockwork, they will kick out one kid per game for hitting someone too hard in the 110 degree field temps.

With later kickoffs, you'll have more heat-related issues in the stands due to people being more drunk.

You know, you want to help everyone you can help. But fans who are determined to be drunk by kickoff deserve what they get.

Let's hope the rest of us can think better than that.

I agree. I also have been event staff having to deal with it.

While I wish we could move the games to evening kickoffs for very obvious reasons, we can't do that because attendees are in bad health. Doing that would pretty much be a license to cancel anything in the future in present day America.
