Holy shite, all the Bama Penis Envy Swamptards are lining up to announce their stupidity to the world.

I'll say it again, so read it very slowly. You can even move your lips while you read:

If all it takes to get Perk to not rush my QB is force him to cover my 4th best receiving option. (i. e. "basically blocking him with a TE) I win that scenario every time. It's not a deep or profound concept. Don't be so quick to jump on the short bus with KKKLSU.

I'll say it again, it's ironic that you don't realize you're the one with stupid takes in this thread.

Well, you and the OP.

frick, you just admitted you are as stupid as KKKLSU. Have you no self-awareness?

I have no idea what this means.

Being able to cover a tight end =/= being able to be blocked by a tight end.

Hope that helps.

Kelly said after that FSU game that Perkins has a lot to learn.

A hybrid LB/DB?

Perk's an edge linebacker see ball hit ball in the Lawrence Taylor mode with enough athleticism to play in coverage, hell, it was his INT in 2023 that kept LSU in that game and ended Mizzou's natty chances

Okay, you're almost there. Now, just take the next step in the logical chain. If an OC knows Perk is going to cover a TE, then he's going to give him a a TE to cover* and remove him from the pass rush. That's effectively blocking him with a TE.

*Btw, for those crowing about his coverage stats, I'm sure it has nothing to do with covering an in-line TE. He ain't walking out in the slot covering the Bowers of the world.

Why do you assume they'll always be in man coverage?

A LB/DB is too general. What does that mean? Is he an inside the box Safety? Is he just covering TE’s in the slot, RBs out the backfield? Is he playing up on the line or back?

His best attribute was speed rushing and blitzing the QB on obvious passing downs (3rd and long situations).

All of the above. The Star lines up everywhere and does everything.

So, now we're arguing that using your best pure pass rusher sitting back in zone is a win for the defense?

That’s what he did his sophomore year and it dropped his stats. Got hurt last year.

that isn't what he said.

You realize all he did his freshman year was rush the QB. Good teams will scheme around that and did once they had film on him. It's not a win for the defense if you make your best athlete on defense one dimensional to the point he becomes a non-factor.

I know this is hard to believe, but why is LSU overthinking this with Perkins? They guy excels at getting to the QB quickly. Stop trying to make him into a 3 down player if he cant hold up against the run.

Nope, that's not what I'm arguing at all.
