Is Coach O smarter than we thought?

I admit, he's a provincial character who doesn't emit the cerebral air of a Fisher, Saban, or Meyer; so we gravitate to joking about the way he expresses himself because it's the obvious thing to do.
But, have we underestimated the man as a thinker and strategist?

It's actually Alleva's master-minding the assistant coaching hires that has gotten LSU, and Ed O himself, out of hot water.

Do you really want Lane Kiffen?. Not trolling, I was just curious looking at your pic.

I give him props for Aranda, but I wouldn't call Ensminger the hire of an administrative savant. Furthermore, it starts from the top.

Any man who advocates strongly for gas station food is a highly respected man in my book.

"frick THEM, IS RIGHT"
He spent the last of his scholarship allocations to recruit a transfer kicker. He got a backup from Ohio State so that we would have 4 QBs in the beginning of camp. He got a lot of flack for those decisions, but what we know now is that he knows how to delegate, recruit, and motivate his players. Looking at Saturday, sometimes that is all what is needed from a HC to beat at top 10 team at a hostile environment.

Chad doesn't deserve the avatar I had on Friday.

Well that's a low hurdle, I'd say this board's mean IQ is under 100.

He has an accent/gravelly voice and is definitely colloquial. Doesn’t mean he hasn’t learned from his past.

You think Jimbo sounds cerebral?

Not at all. But, look at the team's he's beaten. This has been entertaining as hell.

There is nothing cerebral about Jimbo.

He makes more in one year than fatass cajunbama makes in a lifetime.

Jimbo sounds like a stump jumping redneck when he speaks

That's a pretty low standard. Most people didn't think he was smart enough to dress himself, so to be smarter than that doesn't really take much.

He found a kicker out of Massachusetts that so far is the MVP of the team. Something Saban has never been able to do.
He called a timeout early in the Miami game that looked like it was solely to give the refs a chance to review a play and ended up getting a targeting/ejection penalty on one of the Miami starters.
He accepted less money per year (I know, I know...the buyout) so that he could pay his coordinators and has been able to keep Aranda who is earning every penny.
He is by no means a cerebral coach and will never build the factory that Saban has, but Coach O is so far proving he is smarter than what even most of the LSU fanbase thought he was
