You do know that the cupboard is bare no? He has some recruiting years to make up in BR.

Actually, he has some talent to work with in his first year. The cupboard is not quite bare. How well will they adjust to all the changes? We’ll see.

At least at Notre Dame he had nuns praying for him.

Probably property rated. He turned GVSU into a D2 power then had an undefeated record at Cincy back when they were meh. He completely turned ND around and had them competing for playoffs most years but never could win the games that really mattered.

IMO i think he dies very well at LSU. Not gonna go as far to say he will win titles but I think he will have LSU in the mix every year and leave them in far better shape than he found them.

Realistically, neither Miles nor Eaux could make the playoffs at ND.

Notre Dame playing a shite schedule

ND Strength of Schedule...

2021 - 21
2020 - 7 (made playoff)
2019 - 16
2018 - 13 (made playoff)
2017 - 9
2016 - 28
2015 - 8
2014 - 32
2013 - 30
2012 - 7 (played for NC)

This idea that he only had success against a weak schedule is a bunch of bullshite.

He will be more successful than...

jimbo w/aggies
Napier w/gators
Leach w/moo state
Kiffin w/ole piss
Etc, etc, etc, etc....

He will not have the saban at bama level success, but nobody will. But he will be better than Les was overall.

Why didn't CBK just run right at Cincy like Bama did? I think he is a good coach and I think he will have LSU contending after a couple of recruiting classes. But they were playing a small team with two future NFL corners and it didn't seem to occur to him to just run on them. Instead he stubbornly tried to throw on them. This inability of his to adjust reminds me of Les Miles, among others.

He's more similar to Saban than he is Miles or Orgeron. Saban is the GOAT and he brought some great changes to LSU. If Miles and Orgeron can win a championships within 3 years of taking over, I don't see why Kelly can't.

I’m just shocked at how much folks talk about him on here. Everyone tries so damn hard to underrate him. It’s as if they speak it into existence it might happen!! Good luck with that.

Mostly in response to LSU fans constantly trying to treat him like the Second Coming.

I think that depends. Where would he be ranked amongst the SEC coaches by the fans/media? Personally I think he’s third right now, with a chance to be second. Nobody will challenge Nick. But I have a feeling third wouldn’t be the consensus.

The thing nobody ever talks about is an entire staff. I may be more excited about the staff Kelly put together than Kelly himself. That staff is an A+.

This really isn’t accurate at all. The last 10 seasons, ND has had an avg SOS ranked 23rd. That’s not SECW tough, but it’s definitely far from “shite.”

He also averaged the #13 class over that time, which is comparable or better than everybody but Bama in the west.

So there's also the myth that he didn't have the players necessary to beat teams like Pitt or Florida State.

All the flaming aside, I think he's pretty fairly rated.

He probably did what he personally could for Notre Dame. Maybe Freeman can do better, maybe Notre Dame just is what it is.

I'm just encouraged by what I've seen from him so far. His approach to team discipline is something that's been missing for a few years. And frankly, Miles' approach to discipline was clubhanded and unintelligent.

Supposedly Kelly isn't a great recruiter, but he did a hell of a job with the 22 class, and 23 looks better. Is that a case of Kelly finding a new spark, or LSU giving him money for the best assistants that Notre Dame wouldn't have? Maybe both.

Players look healthier. They look like they're in better shape. I know that might sound silly, but Orgeron gave zero cares about anything after the championship. I'm convinced he only walked in the building every day just to be seen.

At this point I'm truly enjoying coherent sentences consecutively spoken. The wins will follow soon enough.

You mean how dare a fanbase be excited about a HC that can hold a conversation?? And LSU's fanbase is no different than anyone else that brags about their HC. Hell, aggies praise jimbo for what he won at FSU and because he didn't accept any LSU offer.... not for what he's done with their program.

So he's already recruiting better than that at LSU, by far.

But, we as SEC fans have contended for a generation now that what has fueled the SEC's meteoric rise is the different type of athlete in the South compared to the B1G footprint.

So what is it now? Does the SEC have access to a different beast of athlete over the B1G, or doesn't it? We cannot play that both ways to further a particular agenda.
