I think he's overpaid. I'm trying to be neutral for the new guy. If you don't like it, you better learn to love it. He is inept. See my post describing how stupid his flirtation with Marshall was. I didn't see a single poster refute it or the conclusions therein.

IMO, Battle redeemed himself for allowing the Marshall negotiations leak to the media frenzy when he hired an energitic coach with former NBA experience.

I'm fine with Bill Battle, I'm fine with Nick Saban, I'm fine with damn near every aspect of my alma matre's atheltic department.

I'm eager to see what CAJ can do to get the students and fans involved and enthused about Bama Basketball. I want to see emotion on the sidelines and excitment in the stands in Coleman.

That's fair enough. You being fine with it doesn't make it above criticism, though.

Since debt is such a concern to you, it must terrifying to realize bammer has racked up close to a billion dollars in long term debt by the rapid expansion of their student body in recent years. This comes straight from an article in the bammer student newspaper a few days ago. The author of said article maintained this plan couldn't be sustained for much longer and the only way to avoid disaster in the future was by replacing the idiots who came up with this plan of expansion in the first placej. Yet the average bammer on the street is dumb enough to believe things at their school couldn't be better

Kinda like we all were when your AD gave Les a raise and extension and in his next breath explained that it's not about championships, but being in the hunt. Or the time he hired a SunBelt journeyman with a . 55 win percentage for any amount of money. Laughed at that too.

Even better is that he's talking about an opinion piece from a UGA professor. I found the story he won't link.

Yet you couldn't find any credible source that says Alabama looks dumb with this hire. Message board trolls don't count.

What's the point of this dumb arse thread...? is the money coming out of the OP's pension? Is he trying to convince us Bama over paid for a coach that is the perfect fit for everything we needed to get our program back on top.. the buzz from Marshall would be over by now... the buzz from CAJ will last for a very long time due to his likeability his media connections and NBA connections. His value just from a marketing stand point is over 3 million a year.

A lot of butt hurt over this hire makes me feel even better about it... if that's even possible.

Who gives a crap what UA paid for their new coach? The important thing is they got an energetic and extroverted coach who may take them to the tourney. I know Bruce Pearl says that the hire was a great one for UA, and that's good enough for me. I think Pearl knows a bit about college/SEC BB coaching. I think it's good for the SEC and great for BB in the state of Alabama. I look forward to him expanding the rivalry. Anyone who is complaining about this hire or how much he is paid is either ignorant or trolling the UA fans here, (or both.)

Good work UA.
