LOL...Wut???....his value is what the market bears....nothing more and nothing less....that Bama overpaid is nothing more than your interpretation.

You need to keep in mind we are not simply looking to plug n' play another coach. If that were the case, we could go hire some assistant or another mid-major jerk-off no one outside of basketball circles ever heard of for $ 1 million a year....

We don't want to do that becuase we have a lot of money. We are trying to elevate and transform the culture and brand of the program and we think CAJ is the guy to take us to the next level. So, in Bama's estimation its an investment worth making.

You are so fricking dumb. That riff was pointing out how elposter misused economics. Of course you wouldn't get it because it would require both reading and understanding.

Is it worth the gamble over 6 years? I'd be more upset about the 6 years than 3 million...

Explain to me what market value is for this coach, and don't try to tell me $1 million since he has never coached in college. You and I both know he wasn't coming to Bama for some low ball salary. He might be an epic failure, but Bama athletics isn't going bankrupt because they overpaid Avery Johnson for a few years. It is worth the gamble in my opinion.

Man, I want to do business with you folks. Do you guys just surrender your money on a daily basis, or do you put up a little bit of a fight?

Because you had a great athletic department with great leadership and traded it for a leader who is woefully inept.
Traded? Mal Moore died man, you know that. What has Battle done that indicates that he is inept?

If what UA chooses to pay their coaches matters so much to you, then you must be absolutely mortified that Auburn chooses to pay million upon millions for coaaches NOT to coach at AU.

I didn't misuse economics at all. The reasoning is sound.

I guess it is a small improvement. They gave Grant a 7 (!) year deal with a mandatory renegotiation after 3.

much greater achievement
Name all the former NBA Coaches of the Year now coaching in the SEC. Achievement as a basketball coach doesn't get any greater. I'm sure his Championship ring will scare away all the recruits, too.

So he leaked his offer to Marshall while he was still coaching, which gave WSU the opportunity to come up with its offer over a longer time horizon.

Also, it indicated that if he spurned them, they would have failed at their top target. It also let the market know what they would pay.

Finally, he released a fricking statement saying that they didn't get Marshall. Let's just say that that sequence would rank near the bottom in just about any athletic department.

You're pretending success in the NBA directly translates to success in college. That doesn't seem to be a proven thing. It certainly doesn't translate from college to the NBA.

All of this gross mismanagement and poor financial decisions by Alabama's athletic department according to expert therick711, it's a fricking miracle that Bama is somehow leading the SEC in athletic department revenue and is one of the most profitable and highly valued departments in the country. Just think where they would be if they would only hire therick711.

Dude, LSU just had a runner up for NBA COY as an assistant. Please.

Don't feed the troll. His posts are by far the stupidest in what has been a pretty thoughtful thread.
