Lane Kiffin was the first coach since the 1964 Ole Miss team to go from preseason number one to unranked. 7-6 and 5-4 in PAC-12.

No thanks.

He did open up more recruiting in Texas. The only good thing he did I guess.

Jimbo won anything significant yet? How's that huge stadium fans won't be a part of?

Come on guy the team was under severe sanctions. If they had rode it out, he might have become another SC legend.

Jimbo was the worst hire of the decade
Bert’s firing may end up being the worst termination of the decade though.

Kiffin is overrated. As a HC, what has he done?
Won 2 more conference titles than Mike Leach

The 2011 team finished No. 6 in the AP poll with a record of 10-2. The 2012 team returned 18 starters with 13 of them making all conference.

Sanctions or not that is a pretty bad accomplishment.

And Ed Orgeron had almost a dozen NFL players on one team including multiple first rounders and Pro Bowlers at Ole Miss. He went winless in the SEC in 2007 with that talent.

It's almost like coaches can change or learn from their past mistakes

Why are some teams so scared of Sam?

I think I know.

Things are looking up.

implemented a real offensive system

Kiffin hired Briles at FAU to get his system so it seems we are implementing a real offensive system if Kiffin is your barometer.

At least we didn't hire a fat offensive line coach literally nobody wanted.

How is Pittman doing in recruiting? If he recruits well, they will beat the North Texas and Colorado State like teams and maybe 1 or 2 SEC wins.

I kind of thought keeping Morris for another year would be worth it if he could keep the recruiting momentum going and leave a strong roster for someone who could do something with it. But with Pittman you've got a guy who genuinely wants to be there even if he doesn't have the HC experience, kind of the same approach with LSU when we hired CEO. It really shouldn't be as hard job of a job as it's looked the last few years and I think Pittman will get y'all on the right track

I remember Bert stomping a mud hole in the Bengal Tigers at Death Valley on the, errgh, dreaded Saturday night game in Baton Rouge. Bert scoffed at the "Can't beat LSU in a Saturday night game at Baton Rouge" Oh and they even played 'CALLIN BATON ROUGE' before the game. Garth scared the hell out of the Hogs as they warmed up that night. The best thing for LSU in the LSU v ARK series was when Petrino was fired. You guys beat him how many times ? Once ?

Chad was a cancer but I think Bret would have fared better under a different AD. If you take a step back and look what happened the root cause was Jeff Long, that POS is what destroyed the Hogs.

Jeff Long put 'going to class' more important than winning, he stated that winning wasn't a priority. He gave fat Bret a false sense of security thinking as long as the kids went to class he could sit back drink beer and eat hamburgers and everything would be okay.

There is a reason why Jeff Long got fired and ever since then we have been rebuilding.

BTW, it just wasn't football either but a few of our other sports. The Hogs will be back, this will be another building year because last year we had the worst team of all time on the field.. going to take some time to recover but we will get there.

Nothing was worth keeping chad another year. His recruiting the second year started to plummet. At one point it was ranked past the top 100. Sam was able to get it in the top 30.

Yeah, Coach Sam did one helluva job salvaging that class. It helped a lot when our new DC robbed the Mizzou coffers of their best incoming talent at the time he agreed to be the Hog DC. But the "BIG GET"was our OC bringing along Malik Hornsby. This cat is fast and when he learns the offense he's going to make a lot of SEC defensive players look silly.
