early 2000 the Big 12 top to bottom was a better conference.
And still could not match the SEC in titles. What made the BIG 12 better than the SEC?
They had fewer titles, fewer Top 10 teams. Am I missing something? Are you claiming the bottom 3-4 teams of the conference was better than the bottom 3-4 teams in the SEC?
quote:Really? because we have played for a National Championship and won another one. I can remember in 1990...but certainly not from 2000-2009 area. Those were the years you stipulated.
Colorado tailed off but they were once what UGA is now.
quote:
From 2003 to 2008 the big 12 was college football and we might not of won all the NCs but we were the focus.
Might not have won all of them?

In that 6 year period the SEC won 4 of them, the PAC 12 won 1 and the BOG 12 won 1.
You think the BIG 12 was the focus when it was the SEC winning them all?
quote:Actually, the facts are that the SEC won 4 of the 6. Those are the facts.
Alot of the NCs are just pure bad luck ... 2008 OU loses Demarco Murray before the NC game... 2009 colt mccoy gets hurt in 1st quarter and they still hang with BAMA with a backup. 2003 Jason White is injured playing qb. These are facts not excuses.,

By the way? That Texas team you claim hung with Alabama? Got beat by 16 points. That's a three possession game.

I'd love nothing more than seeing them get the Nebraska treatment.

Oklahoma played and won a tougher league from 2000 to 2009 than the SEC was in that time frame.
Remind me again how many SEC teams beat your butts in the National Championship Game in that timeframe? Auburn would’ve done it too in 2004 instead of USC if they were given the chance to. Then you have that embarrassing Fiesta Bowl loss to a midmajor… Big Yikes Bob was quite the coach

Well, Texas.

And I am curious why you have never watched an OU game on tv?
Not a fan of flag football defense so I usually avoid Big 12 games for that reason.

Well, then let me spell it out for you, then....
At halftime it was 24-6. At the end of the 3rd it was 24-13. A two possession game. At the end of the game it was a 3 possession game. Texas never got closer than a 2 possession game.

You are still not getting it... football math is not a strong suit is it?? Let me spell it out for YOU. A three possession game is a lead such that it would take THREE possessions to tie the game. A 16 point lead means that two possessions (two TD's and two 2pt conversions) would gain a tie..

Tears? Oh OU tears? I am always enjoying that shite. Frick dem.

And what do you think the chances of getting two TDs and two 2 point conversions would be when Oklahoma got 21 points all game? You think all of a sudden they are going to put TDs up on Alabama all over the field with their best player out? Okay. Hold on to your delusions.
Oklahoma was beaten by double digits. That is not a close game.
So, it was never closer than a two possession game.....you call that staying with Alabama?

I never said it was, in fact I never made that statement, I hate Texass. I was just commenting that you didn't seem to understand what you were saying, and then you doubled down on it. Look at the bright side, you now know the intricacies of possessions and scoring, you are welcome.

Actually going to agree with the Tiger fans as it is clear as day.
The peps who want to point to a historical record and what their team did 20 years ago are idiots.
Try to focus on modern college football. Like the last 5 years. So yes, OU is very disappointing especially considering all the opportunities given to them by being in the Big 12. Yet, they can't win any CFPs. Says a lot about the disparity between the Big 12 and SEC.
I personally can't wait to see OU and Texas in the SEC. Let the tears flow and regret overwhelm them.
OU is currently a joke along with Texas and LSU to be honest. Let's see if they can make up any ground in 2023.

Not for or against OU but some of the things being said are silly
2000-2009 the SEC was better, to even argue is foolish
Alabama has more wins and more NC than OU. Along with having a winning record over every team Bama has played 10 or more times, more wins in bowl games and more top 15 wins (over the top 15 schools in wins -and I think that is almost double what OU has) to even put OU above Alabama is being disingenuous.
Alabama plays in a conference with 5 of the top 13 schools in wins (Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, LSU and Georgia)
OU plays (or played) in a conference with 3 (OU, Texas and Nebraska)

My point, which you obviously missed is that it was not a close game. You did pick up on that, didn't you? Otherwise you are wasting an argument. Now if you want to pick apart semantics we can start another thread. But if you want to stick with the subject you can argue that it was a close game.

but OU made a commitment to getting better and being more competitive by joining the SEC.
Did that commitment include losing your coach and a bunch of your 5* recruits? If so, then you are right on track.

In actuality it did. You apparently did not read the rest of the post, and as you accused me of doing in the post above, you missed the point entirely. LR is not going to win a NC at USC, his coaching style is soft, he is their buddy. This works with recruiting as he relates to the players, but time and time again he proved that he did not have the chops to win tough games. It took confronting him with a challenge to see what kind of person/coach he is. He hiked up skirts and ran.

I overheard an OU fan at work telling some guys that they would win the SEC their first year in the conference and would win a natty within 4 years of joining.
Can't wait for you guys here to experience the delusion I experience from OU fans living in western Arkansas.

This is stupid, and does not represent the majority of OU fans. Most would say that OU will transition in, and that the transition period (2-3 years) will be difficult. However it won't be as bad as many on here seem to hope, nor will it be a cakewalk.
