Two offensive coordinators

quote:

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer has hired Nick Sheridan as offensive coordinator and JaMarcus Shephard as co-offensive coordinator.

Three defensive coordinators

quote:

University of Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer announced the hiring of Kane Wommack on Monday to serve as the Crimson Tide's defensive coordinator.

quote:

Alabama football made two defensive coaching staff hires official on Monday. The Crimson Tide announced that Maurice Linguist and Colin Hitschler are joining Kalen DeBoer’s staff.
The two new hires will share the same title, as co-defensive coordinators and defensive backs coaches.

One special teams coordinator

quote:

Former University of Oklahoma special teams analyst Jay Nunez is taking his talents to Tuscaloosa.
Nunez, an Alva, OK, native who joined Oklahoma’s staff in 2022 after spending five years in various roles at Eastern Michigan, will be the University of Alabama’s next special teams coordinator.

It’s just a money game. Tag them with a coordinator title and they get a better salary.

I'm surprised William Inge didn't come along to be the 4th DC.

In the business world they give you a fancy title instead of a raise.

OR they give you a fancy title in order to avoid a buyout at the previous employer.

Bingo. Plus, it helps multiply the recruiting impact when Bama sends a “coordinator” instead of only a position coach to watch a kid’s HS game.

Alabama had 5 in 2018. Is this all that unusual aside from 3 co-DCs this coming season?

Lots of different directions to lay blame.

Nobody could lead after Saban, so they have no leader.

I would assume DeBoer is also a defacto OC.

Will be interesting to watch for sure.

The experience of the BAMA staff is outstanding. We have 2 coaches who were head coaches, Besides Coach DeBoer, and 5 coaches who were coordinators at one time in their careers. That's a lot of experience at levels of football that matters.

What a bunch of nonsense. The previous coach has nothing to do with a current coaches ability to lead.

Following Saban is a blessing. Les Miles did it at LSU, and everything you dumbasses claim about DeBoer was even more true for him. He was a Michigan guy who coached a few years at OkSt. Only instead of building a national championship contender, he ran a .500 record in the Big12. No SEC ties, not a good recruiter, etc.

And still Les Miles won a NC with the program Saban built.

What sucks is trying to be at a place like Florida that has had multiple coaches fail to build anything.

DeBoer has everything he needs and couldn't be in a better position. If he fails it's on him. The only thing that might not be on his side is fan expectations, but if you can't deal with that, don't take the job to start with.

4 candidates up higher on the board said “no” to such a “blessing.”

You couldn't provide an ounce of proof of that if they were holding your grandmother for ransom.

I don't give a shite if it was 20. The only reason Alabama got Saban is because Rich Rod turned it down.

If other coaches don't have the balls to take the job, then it's probably best they kept their candy asses where they are.

But I think you are full of shite and need a fantasy to cope. I was surprised how fast the hire came. This didn't happen out of the blue.
