I would love to be a fly on the wall in the AU AD office right now.

Are you asking me to stop as a admin of this board or as an LSU fan.
Differnece is if you are asking as an admin...i will say ok.
If you are asking as an LSU fan, I say kiss my arse.
Neither.
I'm asking as someone who has a hard time watching people embarass themselves.
At this point - you are the crazy drunk guy who just raised his hand when the guy in the ring with the bear asked, "Who would like to wrestle a bear?"

Assuming that Auburn did not pay the Newton's, I would think that Auburn is in trouble as an institution only if they knew about Cecil's solicitation and played Cam despite that knowledge. In that circumstance, Auburn knowingly played an ineligible player and would be punished for that.

Unfortunately for LSU, I think that trail leads straight to DeAngelo Benton and DJ McCarthy.
Please explain how this connects to the current situation...
Wow, ok. All I can do is pass on the crazy conspiracy story that was developed on this board during the Akiem Hicks saga last year.
Basically, D Benton (recruited by McCarthy) didn't make the grade on the ACT. He had graduated HS, however. He moved to Baton Rouge and got a job. He was supposed to be studying for the ACT. He took the ACT again, and failed a second time. It was during the second year after HS that we sent him packing. We pulled his scholarship. Benton, of course, went to Auburn, having been recruited by Trooper Taylor.
That is what we know. There are several rumors surrounding this situation.
1) Benton never went to his job, yet received a paycheck anyways. He probably didn't pay for his apartment, either.
Some say this is what happened with Hicks, and possibly also with Dexter Pratt.
We never found out if that was true or not. Some say Les knew. Others say McCarthy had gone rouge.
What we do know is that Les sent both Benton and McCarthy packing.
2) There was that whole thing with Rueben Randle's dad. He basically said Benton was shady, and there was no way Rueben was coming to LSU if Benton did, also.

Just a little more on Bill Bell, and is it odd that he left for Costa Rica the day after all of this started?

Even if NO money was paid, I believe he is on record as saying Cecil Newton was shopping around. That makes his dad an agent and makes Cam's amateur status go bye-bye.
Nope, Joe Schad spec talked about this on SC...asking for money is not illegal.
NCAA says that soliciting cash or benefits by a recruit or an individual representing said recruit on his or her behalf is not allowed under NCAA rules.

I honestly hope that nobody at AU is involved in this. It would suck for the conference, as a whole, if so...
