That’s one. Did you not read the post or the article? They have more seniors than any CFb team in the playoff and more 6 year players than anyone in CFb.

Doesn't matter. DeBoer can recruit the same players if he wanted to.

I don't need to read an article to know it's a veteran-laden team. It was built the same way any other program could build their roster.
Does that somehow make what happened to your team easier to digest? Maybe Alabama should throw more money at the problem.

Hmmm ... if only there was an entire supply again next year of older players -still with eligibility - that were only "Three Stars" but could play a year or two.
It would be like copying Stairway to Heaven in front of a packed house. Too easy.

The services aren't good at rating transfers or is that coach just great at finding gems that might not be big NFL prospects?
The services have no idea how to assess a player’s ability to know a playbook, watch film, make mature decisions on and off the field…. A 23 year old guy who is operating as a professional vs the 19 year old with a million dollars who is playing with toys and screwing randoms every night. The 19 year old might have better measurables as an athlete, but if the 23 year old is at least D1 athlete, he’s got a good shot at winning that matchup.

I can't be so old as to be the only one to remember Keith Lee at Memphis State.
I went to several games back in those Dana Kirk days. Not sure that he was much older than his peers ... if at all.
There were some epic Memphis State vs Louisville (Denny Crum and Pervis Ellison) games ... even after Finch took over. Elliott Perry, and Anfaree Hardaway, etc. (Treadwell boys.)
Those were good years for Metro basketball.

The irony calling someone a noob from historically one of the worst football programs in history.
Win a natty then talk. As of now all you have done is make the playoffs back to back years. Great accomplishment but you have to sustain success

So basically proving me right. You have a first round exit and have won your first playoff game in your schools history.

Indiana could also beat the Eagles.

That is the same formula Michigan used to win a national championship 2 years ago.

Finding out a way to keep them all together for 3 or 4 years is the secret. Many of Indiana’s players have been playing together for 3+ years in the same system with the same coach. They came with Cignetti from JMU.
It is hard to keep a roster intact these days with the portal. You need a roster of overlooked 3 stars to do it. Other teams can not help themselves from offering huge offers to shiny, young 5 star and high 4 star players.
Recruiting/talent evaluators are completely inept at rating/ranking transfer players. I think many coaches are too.
What the portal has shown is that many 4th and 5th year players, regardless of how many recruiting stars they had coming out of high school, will dominate 18 and 19 year old 4 and 5 stars. Especially at “strength” positions - linemen, linebackers, running backs, tight end.

RB3 #21 Martin is a RS freshman that would start for a lot of other power teams, so there's youth on the roster. #17 Ndukwe is a true sophomore filling the absence of the injured Staley... he was a key piece in the DL rotation multiple times throughout the season. #21 Hardy is one of the leading tacklers in the country at LB and is a true sophomore.
Ok so you have 3 underclassmen in your 3 deep? I think that pretty much supports the premise of the OP.

Lot of pride on display right now...Indiana has earned it this year, but you're right long term.
This is one of the most competitive industries out there & we're already seeing the book come out piece by piece. Cignetti has found an inefficiency, exploited it, and now you will see the market start to adjust.
I just don't believe that one guy is some untouchable savant that magically turns every 2 star into a pro and is so far above other extremely well paid & experienced coaches who also work 100+ hours a week. It's called the "game of inches" for Pete's sake. Oh and it's just now all clicked in his 60s.
I think he's found a great exploit, will be able to milk it a few years, then you'll see someone else innovate their way to natty as the game keeps evolving. But enjoy it this year, because Indiana looks a freight train right now.
