1. An Arkansas team with a shite defense
There was no room for error. Auburn had to score every drive. 65 points is amazing.

2. Possibly the worst SEC East Champion ever. Twice
Not even close.

3. The 2nd worst Bama team under Saban
Arguably Nick Saban’s most talented team. Poorly coached, though. Youthful team that lacked true leadership.

4. An Oregon defense with only 2 players that ever took a snap in the NFL
How many 2010 Auburn offensive players took a snap in the NFL besides Cam Newton?

He was clutch, but Tebow to me was the best big game SEC QB of the last 20 years.

Cam needed some miracle plays to make it to the Natty. Clemson was one dirty play away from winning - QB Parker was speared by Fairly and short armed a wide open TE to win the game. MSU game was very close, and the Alabama game required a miracle play to win it.

In hindsight I am glad that Auburn fans were able to experience a season of destiny like that.

You did it now. Start a post with Cam in the title and the Bammers will either beat their wives or kick their dogs.Try not to do it again.

I can't stand Cam Newton. Such a pain in the arse at Auburn, pain in the arse in carolina (not so much lately), cocky as a mofo, etc.

But he was hands down the greatest single college football player I have ever seen. I sincerely believe that just having him at QB was good enough to add 4 wins to any team in the nation. Feel what you want about LSU, but he cut through the teeth of a VERY GOOD LSU defense, outran Tyrann Mathieu and dragged Patrick Peterson into the endzone. He's a caliber of player most of us will likely never see again.

Over one season, yes. He single handily beat an excellent LSU defense. If the sample were bigger , it may be true. Danny W and Tim T at Florida have larger samples and IMO were more clutch over a career.

That Arkansas defense was 36th in Total Defense. Ironically, Auburn's defense was 60th. Our offense was the biggest problem for our defense, because we scored so quick.

28-27 says yes.

But Cam only played one year so not much data to go on.

My gut tells me Tebow is the correct answer though.

Not even close, but we paid him well. I’d pay him 50 times over.

I'd have to go with Tebow. Cam did some great things but he only did it for one year. We all know that a one-year wonder is studied and adjustments are made the following year. You are comparing Cam's best single year to everyone else's careers which level out. Cam never had to face that which is why he cannot reproduce the same thing in the NFL. For all the shortcomings of Tebow in the NFL, he had heroic clutch moments in the NFL - multiple times and in multiple seasons. But, he was absolutely clutch in college.
