In big games, was Cam Newton the most clutch SEC QB over the last 20 years?

He rarely made mistakes and willed his 2010 Auburn team to victory after victory in the biggest games. He took some pretty big shots along the way and seemingly toughed it out, without any kind of drop-off in numbers.

He has, by far, the best TD/Int ratio of any qb vs ranked teams over the last 20 years

TD/INT ratio against ranked opponents over last 20 years
1. Cam Newton: 12.0
2. Jarrett Guarantano: 8.0
3. Hutson Mason: 6.0
4. Tim Tebow: 5.2
5. D.J. Shockley: 5.0
6. Jake Coker: 4.3
7. Zach Mettenberger: 4.0
7. Connor Shaw: 4.0
9. AJ McCarron: 3.7
10. Kellen Mond: 3.3
11. Rick Clausen: 3.0
11. Jake Fromm: 3.0
13. Andre' Woodson: 2.7
14. Trevor Knight: 2.5
15. Tua Tagovailoa: 2.4

He also averaged 3.43 TD per game vs those ranked opponents (most in the conference) and only Tim Tebow had a better passer efficiency rating.

Truly a generational SEC QB. Doubt we ever see one like him again in this conference.

Jarrett is obviously clutch as well. I don't see the problem.

Their victory over UK that year was a huge heartbreaker for UK fans.

Was also very fortunate that said ranked teams included
1. An Arkansas team with a shite defense
2. Possibly the worst SEC East Champion ever. Twice
3. The 2nd worst Bama team under Saban
4. An Oregon defense with only 2 players that ever took a snap in the NFL

Well, Cam is the GOAT you know.

Tua’s 2.4 makes feel better about him not getting the Heisman because I thought he was robbed.

Yet they beat #1 ranked Bama by 2 TDs. How many other Eastern conference champions have done that?

I don't know about clutch, but he took a pay cut when he went to the Pro's.

Cam Newton really was a once in a generation players. To be that big and move that well was truly impressive. The 2010 game vs LSU will be one I’ll never forget. We had a stacked defense that year, and we couldn’t stop him. I just hope Carolina gets him some help, or he will have a shorter career than possible.

They probably weren't the worst East champs ever but that's definitely the worst the SEC East has ever been.

#22 South Carolina 9-5
Florida 8-5
Georgia 6-7
Tennessee 6-7
Kentucky 6-7
Vanderbilt 2-10
