In all honestly, how short of a leash is BK on LSU fans?

I think this is a great time in college football to find young coaches.

Does BK have to make the playoffs this season?

LSU top to bottom hasn't been this deep in a very long time. He has built something extremely solid.

Hes been doing this a long time and it shows.

General consensus is that this is a big year. He would have to try not to make a 12 team playoff with this roster. And if he cant, they will turn on him.

Yes.

No playoffs, the NIL money dries up.

This is all assuming that no one does something really dirty, like an Alabama LB spearing Nussmeier and knocking him out for the season.

The grim reaper isn't hovering over his shoulder but... with the talent the team has and the schedule they are playing, anything less than a CFP bid will get the fans riled up.

No, I'm not saying they have a walk in the park schedule, but it is front loaded with some very winnable games. LSU can really puff up the win total early. If they win 8 or fewer games and there wasn't an injury bug like God himself personally came down and smote the team then Kelly is going to have his seat on dumpster fire levels going into next year.

Personally, and this is just a guess, I say they go 10-2 and very likely make the CFP, or at least come close enough that LSU fans are mad at the committee and not Kelly.

It's the best roster he's had. Its expected.

With Rev share, firings aren't going to happen as much. I think unless you can hire a slam dunk like Lanning or something, he's got more time and more leash than fans want to admit.

Yes. The big looks for us are oline, Nuss scramble/run ability, and D changes

In all honesty I would have thought he would have been on the hotseat by now and gone after this year if they didn't make the playoffs. Never in a million years would I thought LSU could/would somehow morph into Next Year U, but that's exactly what has happened.

It would depend on how he missed the playoffs. If they went 10-2 and somehow missed the playoffs I doubt he gets canned. But if they lose more than two games in the regular season while missing the playoffs, the Kay-juns gone get highly upset with him.

He is elite. Almost unheard of to have a chance to go 0-4
in season openers.

His buyout is astronomical. He’s not getting fired for years.

Day 341 straight of a Brian Kelly thread started by a Bama fan. We’re not rivals remember?

Not to mention 6 years left in a fully guaranteed contract north of $60M

Yeah. That goes back to revenue share. Everyone’s expenses just went up by $20m per year. No SEC coaches were fired least season. When’s the last time that happened?

His buyout has to come down significantly barring some sort of Ed O type breakdown of the team.

Correct, the record is not nearly close enough for Alabama and LSU to be rivals. BK is however our favorite comedian. Dude is hilarious. You can’t expect people not to talk about him.

Not an LSU fan but playoff bid should be the minimum or else the sky gets really gray

Hard to predict national titles when there look to be about 10 teams who are capable this season going into it. Would LSU fans think it's a terrible year if they make the playoffs as like the 9 seed then lose to the 8 seed (maybe @Oregon for example)? Probably not even if they would be pissed as all fans would be

Kaleb DeNineandfour is your coach. Do with that information what you must, which probably means you should cry.

He's on a very short leash in my head. Lose the opener this year and he HAS to be in the playoffs AND win one of those games in order for fans to stay on the Kelly Train in my opinion. If he both loses the first game and fails to make the playoffs again I think he's in real trouble for the first time since being in Baton Rouge.

BK wanted the smoke.

Also, Notre Dame making it to the CFP championship game last year impacts the perception of BK as well… fair or not.

The consensus here in Baton Rouge is pretty much with the fact they went all in on the transfer portal with your 4,000yrd passing QB returning etc etc if he doesn't at the very least make the playoff this year then he never will do shite of note! He doesn't "have to win" a Natty but missing the playoffs this year with all the moves made would lose the fanbase! I don't think he'll get fired because of that because of the massive contract & length remaining but the fans would be out on him if he doesn't make the playoff this year!
