I wasn't trying to denegrate anyone, just trying to highlight why someone who served might find it more interesting.

Serving in the military has zero to do with politics and I want you to explain why you thing it does?

Curious for those who served but were enlisted and said it was no big deal, when did you serve?
A) WWII
B) Korea
C) Vietnam
D) Granada
E) Gulf
F) Last 5 years

This game means more for West Pointers and officers who earned their commission from a service academy more than anything else. It's a unique environment no doubt, but I know plenty of enlisted and ROTC/OCS officers who lack interest in this game compared to West Pointers. Its still a great rivalry though.

Lol. No.
He absolutely is, and it's pathetic how desperate people are for a real hero that they will lionize a careerist officer because he memes gud.
Carry on tho. Carry on.

Outside of the game itself, it doesn't mean much. In the big picture of college football it's a glorified exhibition.

If you mean the 91 Gulf War then none of the above. There's a 20 something year gap between the Gulf War and the last 5 years.

Your posts have much less to do with whether the game is meaningful. You’re just wanting to denigrate the people who do care, regardless of their reasons.
No, my posts are refuting the nonsense claims about the relevance of this game, particularly where servicemembers themselves are concerned.
But I can understand why certain people, desperate for meaning, get upset to know that the military isn't just a big ole patriotic family that cries at halftime of service academy football games.

And the ring knockers I've met were douchebags so that didn't help.
They are either really cool or really douchey bo matter what specialty they fall in. Not really many in between.
USAFA and the USNA are really douchey (fighter pilots), kind of douchey (all other pilots), huge geeks (engineers and space guys), cool but in a douchey way (seals), cool (marines... non-pilot/aviator marines)

Odds are most served during the longest period of continuous war in US history, and most have probably done 1 or more combat deployments as something other than a senior officer

Well, I guess I only met the latter.
And God help you if you had a West Point cadet attached to you over the summer.

This game started meaning something to the country when we went to war after 9/11. It became a way of acknowledging a small group of men and woman who were making a sacrifice for the protection this country not seen since WWII. It wasn’t just about the Officers who attended the two academies, it became a representation of all who wore the uniform.
