This FSU team went 5-7 last year and lost to a mediocre FCS team (Jacksonville St). I agree with everything you said with an exception. We are indeed 8th in 24/7's college team talent rankings. The problem is, those rankings are of players coming out of high school and it makes the assumption they will be developed equally at the college level.

I mean, I realize its really the only way to measure "talent", but when you have shite development of those players for two years (or close to two decades in #6 Texas' case), how "talented" are those kids as college players? It makes a huge assumption that the coaches/schools recruiting these players are just as good at developing them, and LSU flat out sucks at that since 2019.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that LSU’s opening opponent was a little more difficult than Vandy’s. Or is that not a true statement?

LSU probably won’t beat Bama, but I don’t see any other games on their schedule in which they won’t have a puncher’s chance.

I would say FSU is AT LEAST as good as most of LSU’s remaining opponents.

If LSU can clean up their dumb mistakes, they have the talent to play with any of the tier 2 opponents on their schedule. Speed and athleticism is a pretty good starting point when you’re playing a game with an oblong ball.
