Eddie Conyers, 97, died on Tuesday. He had been a practice referee for the Alabama Crimson Tide football program for more than 60 years. He joined the program in 1957, one year before Bear Bryant took over. Conyers had worked the Alabama Crimson Tide practices for 63 seasons... (The Spun)

He only was on the practice field. A good man. Don't confuse him with game time officials. He did what he loved. I'd bet he never threw a flag in his life, at least not on a good player at practice.

He'd have died 20 yrs ago if Bama replaced him with a younger kid. --"Rest well, my friend. Your spirit will always be with the Crimson Tide."
