I already re-upped since we had a good account and I talked them into letting us have the deal for new customers back in Dec. Free Genie and a dvr in every room, free nfl total package and a bunch of other free stuff . I'll stick because we are bigger DVR fans than football fans and it would probably cost something to cancel.

without the sec network how exactly do you plan on streaming midweek baseball? maybe the only events you care about are the 230 football games, and if so thats fine. but you arent really a good representative of an sec fan.

Very peculiar from directv's standpoint

They've always been morons when it comes to stuff like this. The only way they'll learn is if they lose subscribers. I'm currently on hold with Uverse to make the switch from DirecTV. It's called voting with your dollars.

That's why I have Dish now. DirecTV said for a year they were working on getting CST. Never got it, so I dropped them. Was thinking of switching back when the SEC network started, but won't if they don't carry it.

guy told me they are working out a deal but nothing will get done until right before they launch. FWIW

They kind of have to say that. They said the same thing about CST.

Already pissed me off they let TWC go. frickers got me though, as I signed another two year contract 6 months ago.

Unless things have changed, you could technically go to their lowest package and practically zero out. Like $5 a month.

Not really sure how relevant this is. Tons of cable providers aren't carrying either of those networks. They aren't moving the needle. DTV carries BTN and has almost from the beginning. SECN will likely have greater demand than that and has far greater leverage (Disney property).

Isn't the main reason DTV hasn't taken on Pac12Net b/c they don't like that it's essentially 6 regional networks plus a national with all of them simulcasting the majority of its football games on Saturday?

I bet if it was a single network like BTN they would have it by now.

I cancelled today. Threatened small claims court after repeated complaints, did not have to pay early termination fee.

How many months left on contract? What was your positioning on the cancellation?

Now they're going back on it saying they don't know who sent out the email and they're negotiating.

LINK
quote:

Now DirecTV customer service is saying on Twitter that they don't know who sent out an email saying that after careful review DirecTV has no current plans to carry the SEC Network.

That sounds pretty bad for DirecTV's organization.

So bad that within a couple of hours of these emails going out DirecTV was Tweeting, "We're still negotiating with SEC Network to bring this to your line up."

So either DirecTV has someone in customer service who hasn't been trained very well or this was an attempt to gauge an early reaction from SEC fans to a decision not to carry the SEC Network. If the early feedback on Twitter is any indication, DirecTV is going to be in for a beating if they maintain their anti-SEC Network posture. (There's always a third possibility, that Nick Saban jedi-mindtricked a DirecTV employee into sending the email, but that's just ridiculous. We all know Nick Saban's too focused on breaking down Florida Atlantic blitz packages right now to jedi mind trick anyone.)

I still laugh thinking of what they offered me to stay. Said they would take a whole $5 off my bill, and because I said I was switching to Dish for college baseball. They offered me the ESPN full court package for free the rest of the season. (Less than a week) someome may want to let him know the difference between baseball and basketball.

This is why I knew a SEC Network would do well. Its not about dollars and sense for these cable company executives. It is a simple question of

Do you want SEC fans to teabaging your children and your twitter pages?

Or not?
