Just removing the junk stats at the end of the game with the game in hand.
I did keep the 1bs in even with their break down vs UK.

Msu will Win... here's why

It's been a fun day. I'm out for the night, got things to do. Wanted to leave you with the reasons why MSU wins:
1- Your defense can not hold our offense. To many weapons. You have to go man and that leaves 2 major run threats.
2- Yeldon not being healthy, and MSU's front 14 are tops at stoping the run.
3- MSU's secondary is top 10 at defending the pass with it's starters.
4- #1 in redzone defense.
5- Because EVAN said so
Here's to a MSU win and injury free game for all!

You know, you might have a point.
1- Completing 146 passes 2231 yards and 18 passing TDs with another 11 rushing.
2- Throwing it 135 times to 8 different guys who are in double digits. Not one of them being over 22 receptions. That says he is smart and can read a defense and make checks.
3- Is our #2 RB
4- Is a threat in catching it for a TD too.
You are wrong on the subpar stats for a contender though. WAY wrong.

re: MSST's Passing Defense Is Not Terrible

Here's a break down of what MSU has allowed with prior to 4th quarter, game over situation VS the SEC.
250 uk
157 LSU
194 TAMU
159 Auburn
If you use just the top ranked teams we have played.. we rank top 5 in yards allowed. That's WITH the 1a and 1b groups.
If we kept on the gas... we would have not given up much more than that.
Now our 1bs had a rude awakening vs UK and was torched by Collins and Mullen for it.
It amazes me that people have not grasped this yet.
The idea that MSU's secondary is bad using passing yards allowed is misleading and personally, I LOVE IT!

However, "1B's" performance against Kentucky on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium said otherwise.
quote:
They didn't play very well (Saturday) at all," MSU coach Dan Mullen said of the "1Bs."
Despite its win, Mississippi State (7-0, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) allowed Kentucky to score 31 points. Seven came when all 11 of the Bulldog's defensive starters were on the field, which happened on the Wildcats' opening drive of the second half.
The touchdown came after the Bulldogs' first team limited Kentucky to 78 yards on 30
It amazes me that people have not grasped this yet.

Meanwhile, the second team allowed 115 yards and a touchdown on nine plays in the first half.
quote:
"You can never be casual. A lot of the 1Bs are younger," Mullen said. "The younger guys probably enjoy the pats on the back a little more than the older guys. So those 1Bs, I don't think it will be real casual at practice this week."
The idea that MSU's secondary is bad using passing yards allowed is misleading and personally, I LOVE IT!
quote:
Kentucky's fifth offensive drive began against Mississippi State's second-team defense. The Wildcats moved 37 yards down field on four plays and into MSU territory.
Seeing the trouble, defensive coordinator Geoff Collins then put the Bulldogs' starters back on the field. Kentucky ran eight more plays in the drive, which gained 21 yards and settled for a field goal.

Bama gives up average of 13.2 ppg
Not a real good comparison to go by. The reason being why people think our Secondary is bad.

No one expects us to win and I am sure there are some people still scratching their head, because we're still undefeated.
"That's fine with us. We like proving people wrong."

"Everybody knows what's at stake for this game. It's not a secret. Big games like this make players play better."

B Brown:

"We just have to take advantage of our opportunity and go in there and dominate for four quarters."
quote:
We have heard it a lot of times, It just makes us play harder,We play as the underdog and that puts a chip on our shoulder to play even harder and to try to go out and dominate."
Saban:
quote:
"They've been ahead a lot of their games and the other teams have passed the ball on them a lot," Saban said. "That doesn't mean that they have an issue in pass defense. It just means that they've really had to play against a lot of passes."

We don't melt. We leave that to the fan bases that think their team can not lose MSU..... but have all season.
So again.. How can you possibly defend that many receivers without giving up the run?
