I would take Kiffin in a heartbeat

Deboer is better than Kirby. Deboer 2-0 vs Kirby.
And Freeze was 2-0 against Saban while at Ole Miss. Does that mean Alabama should hire Freeze immediately? Seems like a no-brainer.

It's a great subject considering our coach is the one guy every other team in SEC would trade their coach and both daughters for

That's easy. Kirby or DeBoer.

You'd give your swine souls for any current or fired SEC coach.
Actually, your school is currently talking to multiple recently fired coaches

Bama beat Ole Miss 2012-2013 and 2016 when he was there. Quit nitpicking stats just to make your case.

100% lie. Losing to Michigan is not something your fanbase can handle on a consistent basis. UM has a change for 4 straight and that has not happened since 88-91. Michigan lives in your OSU skulls for some reason, even though you beat them 15 out of 16 times before their 3 game run here. Midwest is a strange place for emotions.

Think I'd just hold we have for now and see where it goes. It is only year 2. Why cost $$$ and turmoil with a premature change?

Happy with DeBoer...but Kirby would be the only other current SEC coach I'd want at Bama.
Those are the only 2 coaches to make a national championship game...and Kirby obviously won 2 nattys.

I would want Elko. Purest HC out there.

Idk how Ryan Day would be in the SEC
There are more teams in the SEC that could give him a loss than in the Big10. He would be a 9 win coach here.

Elko has a higher winning percentage at this point in his tenure at TAMU than Saban had at this point at Alabama.

Over Heupel, I'd take:
1) Kirby - He has the culture thing down. He recruits and develops talent. Seems NIL savvy, and I love a defense-first coach. Still think the offense is too old school.
2) Elko - Seems to be a football wizard. Seems NIL savvy. It's a bit TBD but could be a championship culture guy.
3) Deboer - Impressive track record. Wins big games. Some suspect traits though.
Everyone else seems to be at par or worse...
My main criteria:
1) I think culture is most important. It's tough to get weekly consistency & big game mentality from college kids.
2) You have to actually develop players.
3) You have to be dynamic in X & O's
4) You have to be GM-minded in the NIL era

Kirby doesn’t even know how to clap (or call a time out).

That may be the case, but he owns our coach. That's good enough for me.

I see you’re counting DeBoer’s entire career instead of his FBS time.
Since that’s the case, let’s evaluate your claim.
Kirby Smart coached for a national title in his second season and lost.
Karen Deboer coached for a national title in his second season and won. He won a second in 2008 and a third in 2009. He coached for and lost title games in 2007 and 2023.
So, in 10 seasons Smart has coached in 3 title games and won two. Meanwhile in 11 seasons Deboer has coached in 5 title games and won three.
After an evaluation of your claim using the historical record:

He rebuilt the entire football program brick by brick last year
I thought 8–4 would be expected this year, 9–3 would’ve made me very happy
So for me, he has greatly exceeded expectations and appears to be making all the right moves

Kirby would obviously succeed at Alabama in a major way and almost anyone would take him in a second.
I think Elko has the right makeup as well.
Kiffin and Sark I like both but I'm not sure it would be a great fit.
There are other solid coaches (Heupel, Drink, Lea), but definitely wouldn't trade DeBoer for them at this point.
DeBoer has obviously improved his stock in terms of winning games, but the other stuff has been very good too - recruiting, portal hits, overall roster management. A whole lot of young players who they identified early in the recruiting/portal process have been very good, along with his Washington transfers. So he seems to have his "program" in place now, and it looks like it is sustainable to compete at the top of the league/playoff contender level. And that's about all we can ask for.
