Just like Gus,Mullen’s success depends on his qb. Mullen likes to run his qb more than Gus. Dak made it without injury. Fitzgerald did not. Jones better get physically ready. He will get hit 20-25 times a game. Good luck with that.
This is true. However, to be fair, Fitzgerald's leg was intentionally injured. Something that shouldn't happen, but does sometines.

Uh... what? The only replay I've seen of it this would literally be impossible.

Imo his records here.
9-3 (6-2) losses to UGA, FSU , SCAR
7-5 (5-3) losses to LSU, UGA , another west opponent, Miami and FSU
9-3 (5-3) losses to UGA and LSU and SCAR
8-4 (5-3) losses to UGA, west opponent, LSU, FSU
Fired at the end of the year.
Oof that's a pretty bleak outlook... don't look now but Straws and some others are on the way to accuse you of being a Nole.

UGA: 0-4
FSU: 1-3
LSU: 1-3
USC: 2-2
That would seem to be guaranteed to get him fired... Particularly when you account for FSU hiring a new coach after UF, LSU having what most view as a subpar head coach, and South Carolina literally splitting the series with a former UF head coach. Let alone getting to an 0-5 streak against UGA in Jacksonville. If those predictions came true, I'd be shocked if Mullen had a job by the time NSD rolls around after his 4th season in Gainesville.
Ultimately, I'd say your Year 1 projection is probably more optimistic than I would be for you guys - feel like 8 wins is probably the ceiling and could do worse with some toss-ups... 9 would probably be a really impressive year 1. Year 2 a little under... i think 8-9 wins is doable there if Mullen has you guys gelling and IF Emory Jones ends up starting for you in a good chunk of the 2018 season with some success to build around. Year 3 is "the year" IMO. If Mullen doesn't have you guys at 10+ regular season wins by then, he's unlikely to do it before he gets fired or looks elsewhere. The schedule looks to be favorable right now, with only 3 SEC road games (Jacksonville) - with Ole Miss as the rotating west opponent, OOC you guys play South Alabama and Eastern Washington along with FSU and a yet to be determined opponent (as far as I can tell). Meanwhile, UGA picks up Alabama on the road as a west opponent (making 4 total road SEC games + 1 game in Jax). If that schedule doesn't scream Dan Mullen feast, I'm not sure what will...

I’m going to be quite happy when he’s fired in year four for averaging 8.5 games a year. Shitbird wanted out, well now he’s got it.

If UF is able to reach it's full potential with Dan Mullen as a coach
If your aunt had balls, she would be your uncle.
Mullens is a self centered prick and will lose at least two games a year because of that.

Thanks for keeping this tread on the front page and ahead of the "If UG is able to reach it's full potential with Kirby" post. Go Gators!!! Always in your heart and head!

Took a shite on Jake LaMotta in the other one... started to stink. This one is losing momentum as well...
Serious question for UFLMatt...
Give me your win total projection for UF for the next 4 seasons please

If he regresses from year 1 to year 2, then he’s going to get fired in year 3 or 4. Elite coaches improve significantly from year 1 to year 2. Imo, I think we’ll know if Dan is the man by 2019.

Not gonna happen. Those thugs will run his arse out the locker room.
UF is on its way to be Miami U 2.0

I don't disagree with you on the typical 1st to 2nd season bump, but UF's schedule plays out in such a way that year 1 will *probably* be a remarkably easier schedule than year 2... I think 2020 is probably a better gauge, but he could be on the hotseat going into it. It's a bigger job ahead of him than many gators want to admit. At the end of the day, it's certainly possible, but it's going to take a lot of things going right.

UF's big problem will be recruiting. Kirby has locked GA down and is plucking talent from FL. FSU will continue to be a dominant FL recruiting school. Miami has Richt which will compete for talent. UCF is on the map now. And the rest of the nation targets FL talent too.

I love that the East (well UT maybe not) is actually making a bid to be great.
Dan Mullen will have them boys competing.

Going wait to see how it plays out in the 2019 class before I worry about UF recruiting. Literally a monkey should be able to recruit better than McElwain did, so they should improve with minimal effort. We haven't really seen Mullen/Kirby go head to head on a recruit yet, so will be interested to see how that goes with some of our IMG and south Florida targets. FSU recruiting may stay good or may fall off... little bit of fools gold in Taggart's first class. Year 1 matchup between those teams may actually define a lot of how that recruiting battle goes. UCF will not likely have a significant impact on their class at the top end... at most it may impact some of their "value picks" as they're filling out the class.
Richt I think is the top challenger in-state for them right now. If he locks down the key pieces in South Florida with other out of state programs reaching in that cookie jar as well, might be the most problematic for both UF and FSU.

The fact that he helped Meyer win 2 NCs is irrelevant. Just like Nuss and Mac winning one with Saban.
They aren't really like comparisons. Dan Mullen was with Meyer from Bowling Green to Florida. He was a part of Meyer's success as he ascended the college football ranks.

MSU fans were patient .. UF fans are NOT. Dan's on a 2-year leash. It's put up or shut up and it's only year ONE.

Like the way we've continued to recruit down there with CKS.The area is a gold mine and it continues to get better.
Miami is logistically,in the best P5 situation in the country for recruiting

I love how some dawg fans have become out of the woodwork now that they won some big games...its called bandwagon and that's the reason those hillbillies for the most part have scurried away like cockroaches just when bricks were being laid.
Don't count all your Ws just yet...college football has a funny way of humbling your azz. What happened last year is just that...last year. If you aren't a perennial cellar dweller...then no one can say what will happen the next year.
