Too much time in Detroit killed his chances.

Is he a hall of famer if he wins the super bowl? Maybe. Just getting there helped his case tremendously as the biggest knock on him was lack of post season success. If he puts up a couple of more solid, top 10 NFL quarterback seasons it won’t matter if he wins or not, he will be in. In no universe is he the best Lions player of all time.

Good Lord.Stafford should end up in the top 10 in career yards and TD passes.

Calvin won't even finish in the top 30 in receiving yards or TD's

GTFO with that garbage.

Are you more or less impressed with Stafford and his numbers than you are Carson Palmer? Matt Stafford has only made one pro Bowl in his career. I like the guy, but when for almost every year of your career you aren't really considered better than the 8th or 9th best QB in the league, are you really deserving of the Hall of Fame?

Yet 1 was a first ballot HOFer and the other is apparently debatable.

And yet, this whole thread is a debate over it.

Yeah...I don't question Stafford being HOF if he wins.

I had just read a bunch of Burrow posts and somehow subbed Burrow for Stafford.

Carry on!

Not only that, every time he passes a round number like 20,000 yards, 30,000, 40,000 yards, it says he's the youngest to do it.

He's in if he wins a SB. The League knows that the Lions were a shite team and know how good he was to make them actually competitive on a lot of Sundays.

Don’t get the cart before the horse. We won’t see a “Should Burrow be in the NFL HOF?” thread until the night of February 13th.

Interesting question. I’d have to review the #s. Maybe.

I think he needs another Super Bowl appearance or play several more years and rack up the stats to near Brees categories.

No it is not tough. As of 2020 there were 346 NFL Hall of Famers, spanning a 57 year time frame. During that same time frame there were approximately 212,000,000 people born in the United States. So, it is fairly common statistically speaking. One in about 615,000.

Do some of you even read what you type before you hit submit?

Put Stafford on the Cowboys or Saints and this probably isn’t even a question since he would have a lot more post seasons and probably a ring or two. The guy has been consistently good for 12 years. Great? No, probably not. He won’t carry a team by himself but he’s definitely a solid franchise QB and there’s many worse ones starting in the NFL. Would have loved for the Titans to get him. Him and Henry and Julio together? Hah!

No he isn’t

1. Barry Sanders
2. Calvin Johnson
3. Joe Schmidt
4. Bobby Layne
5. Could be Stafford, could also be Alex Karras or Lem Barney
