Plenty of people with better resumes aren't in the HOF. Now if he wins this SB and plays another 5 years while putting up similar stats... probably a decent shot at making it at some point. Is Eli Manning going to go in? That's kind of the company I'd put him in if he wins the Super Bowl.

Shaun Alexander was league MVP, an All Pro, took his team to a Super Bowl and broke the record for rushing TDs in a season at the time. He gets mentioned as a fringe candidate, but he needed another couple of good seasons to have a really strong case.

Hof is a career achievement.
You are conflating a limited number of single season achievements.

There are arguments for and against.
But you arent making the appropriate arguments at all.

Kurt Warner only played 12 seasons in the NFL, 11 as a starter. He won two MVPs, was all-pro twice, and went to 4 pro bowls. He also won a super bowl and went to another. He has not yet been selected for the HOF.

And? Are you even attempting to say he didn't have a better team and surrounding cast the vast majority of his career?

Phil Simms is pretty comparable

Do what? Not remotely close...not even for his era.His BEST season for TD passes was 22.Good Lord Steve Bartkowski threw for 31 TD passes in 1981. GTFO with this silly comparison.

however, those two have gone to a lot more pro bowls than Stafford

Once again compare the surrounding cast for each and if Stafford wins the SB he's in.No question

Don’t be so sensitive. It means that if you ask people that aren’t UGA homers, the answer is “No”.

LMAO!

Most of the folks that agree with me aren't "UGA homers"

Stafford had THE best receiver in football for 7 years.

I mean JFC, a UGA fan started thread posing a question. People are answering. Stop getting so butt hurt if everyone doesn't agree Stafford is "shoe-in" HOF player.

so what you're saying is leading the league in TD passes doesn't mean all that much?

1 Pro Bowl and ZERO playoff wins in 11 seasons in Detroit. No way he should make the HOF.

Pretty similar stats, not a bad comparison. Eli has more awards, not the least of which are the two Super Bowl MVPs.

I guess a lot will depend. On who all is up for it when Eli and Stafford are eligible. For Stafford he will need to win at least 1 Super Bowl and some more individual honors, I think.

Nite Train Lane would put YOU 2 SLEEP

That guy would absolutely destroy opponents.

Now, that was MUCH DIFFERENT time in pro football where you could commit freaking assault and battery on opponents and not even get a flag

Watch that highlight reel of him and be in utter awe of how violently he would decimate the opposing players.

Plus, he could cover dudes to.

Ummm 2017 calls and says"hello", I'm Kurt Warner and I am being inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

People should really get facts at least sorry of correct before they babble on here.

I’d compare Stafford to Dan Fouts and I think he’s in yes?

I don’t think very many qbs make the pro bowl on losing teams. It’s also hard to overstate how bad the Lions suck as a franchise. With Stanford’s stats and a Super Bowl win I’d say yes. Especially if he piles up another 3-4 seasons. Although if he does manage to win a SB it may actually incentivize an earlier retirement.

They have 22. Only two of them their careers after the AFL-NFL merger. Only 8 of the 22 played past 1970. Only 2 of their HOFers have taken a snap in the last ~ 45 seasons.

Not sure what the point is. Did someone set a timeframe that excluded players before a certain date and didn't tell me? Would you like to list Lions that are more highly decorated with Pro Bowls and All Pros since 1970?

Then let us go with Lions that were voted All Pro sine 1970 not named Barry Sanders or Calvin Johnson. Something Stafford never managed:

3 Time All Pros
Herman Moore
Mel Gray
Ndamukong Suh
2 Time All Pro
Charlie Sanders
1 Time All Pro (i'll leave out the punter and kickers)
Lomas Brown
Doug English
Jerry Ball
Chris Spielman

There have been 15 Lions since 1970 that have been voted to multiple pro bowls. Vs Stafford's 1.

So there. We arbitrarily eliminated 40 years of the Lions history (the most successful periods) and still the list of more highly decorated players is pretty long.

One of the gutsiest things I’ve seen an NFL QB do is when he had a shoulder dislocated and then threw a ball that set up to win the game.

The NFL had him mix’s up and it’s out on YouTube.

He is a damned good QB
