Les’s 2007 NC was 10-2 team that needed lightning to strike several times in the same place just to make the championship game. O’s NC was probably the best season ever for a college football team in a “normal” year. O by a country mile.

hurts to say that knowing he's at Bama but most LSU fans with a brain realize the importance of Saban spending time in Baton Rouge.

True

Even more so with Bama though because he literally fell in their lap and saved them (post Stallings).

It was a shite show

LSU wouldn't be where it is today without Saban.

17 of 24 starting positions, including a kicker.

But he was back in the NC game in January 2012 with a roster he built completely himself. Les recruited some damn good players.

You’re correct it’s a flimsy argument for 07.

A better barometer is Les’s performance in 06. He lost with Saban’s players

we do

Hate to say it, but I think people are correct when they say "no one". As I grew up a Tigers fan, all the beloved games were... close losses. Played USC tough, played Nebraska tough.
The attitude was, we're so good, we can stay on the field with elite teams. You might beat us, but you'll know you've been in a game.

Saban came in and didn't accept that, didn't aim for that. Upsetting Tennessee and then winning the Sugar Bowl wasn't what he sought, he laid out a formula that built the program into a national champ.
Now, Les came in and put some of his own processes in, but he followed that script pretty closely. He certainly could have been successful in other programs, but I don't think he's the builder Saban was.

Orgeron, honestly no clue. He was lost at Ole Miss, but I don't think they can get the talent to play straight up and win, and I don't think he is creative enough to level the playing field. I think he DOES have an understanding of what Les did here, and what Carroll did at USC, and he's TRYING to follow that script. But if the foundation wasn't in place, I think he'd fail miserably.

Neither. Saban's made going to LSU cool again before that their recruits were split among many different schools

[quote]Those core players still had to be coach up. Who coach Saban's recruits? Les Miles and his staff. Same goes for CEO.[/quote

I'm sorry but Les Miles and coach up are words that should never be used together. He should have been gone after the 2011 championship game. He really thought they could go play Bama the way they did earlier that season and expect the same result.

I'm going to say Les. During Les' career at LSU, had Nick Saban not been at Alabama he would have won a few more titles. Les was able to maintain consistency at LSU for quite sometime, a level of consistency Ogre will never achieve. Ogre caught lightning in a bottle by finding the right transfer QB. Ogre is the LSU equivalent to Gene Chizik, and he won't be at LSU more than another year or two.

Because Les could simply recruit good and pound the ball and physically dominate less talented teams.

Look at Les' records once offenses started changing.
