The ONLY thing that keeps it from crashing today is the really rich. Two more years of the current situation and those 8-4 or 9-3 teams with no big trophy will see the really rich cut the big dollars.

Could it? Try past tense. Along with the networks controlling everything, wokeism, the fricking targeting rule, etc. They are killing their base, and these nerdy kids coming up are not going to replace us. They would just as soon watch futbol rather than football.

It already has, I'm definitely following it all less than five years ago.

More corporate sponsors on uniforms.
Corporate involvement is an untapped resource of money. You could place corporate logo patches on the football uniforms. You might even consider renaming the team - "The University of Alexandria Fighting Exxon Bobcats" and so on.
"The Fighting Pfizer Irish of Notre Dame!"
Get that money and buy that trophy. Lose all of your out-dated notions and emotions and play the game as it really is.
The fans will get used to it. Ignore their whining and get that money to pay those mercenaries.

I'm really enjoying the new, level playing field.
I'm just curious about Ole Miss because they are doing well in the portal. How much NIL money do they have this year, compared to past years?

I just refuse to donate to NIL. I agree disagree with the whole premise of it.

Already has and it'll only get worse until they make the necessary changes.
In a perfect world, I would agree with you, but the NCAA has tried and failed numerous times in court.
It's so out of control now that I wouldn't be surprised to see players getting paid $5-10 a year within the next 10 years. At some point, it's going to collapse on itself because families can hardly afford it now, so something has to give.

Hockey is only pure sport left. Unfortunately it’s not as fun or popular which is why it’s still good for its product. Money hasn’t got their hands on it
Money hasn't got its hand on softball, gymnastics, track and field, cross country, swimming and diving, volleyball, lacrosse, field hockey, rowing, bowling, fencing, rifle, water polo, wrestling, or skiing.

The drop off of interest has already started and it will increase as the world gets worse. The only people denying this is the people that are fully asleep.

Yep, it's impossible to maintain any kind of continuity changing out mercenaries every season - just like what happened to basketball. I care about the players less and less.

It's roughly the same year to year.

Texas Tech payed Canaday $1 million to pitch softball for them.

Already has. I think we could handle NIL or the portal. Both at the same time has lead to the chaos we see now. Everyone is tampering, it sucks and feels dirty even when your team benefits.
