I don’t see many coaches leaving for that dumpster fire administration

He’d need to beat at least two very good teams to get to six wins.

If they win enough to be bowl eligible, think he’s back for another year.

Can he get to 8-4? If so, and if we look competent against Texas, Georgia, and Tennessee (he has to win at least 1 of these game), he could potentially save his job.

I put those odds around 1%

With their schedule it will take an act of God to get bowl eligible. Though FSU does look like a paper tiger this year so that might be one they can pull off.

Oct. 5 vs. UCF
Oct. 12 at Tennessee
Oct. 19 vs. Kentucky
Oct. 26 Idle
Nov. 2 vs. Georgia
Nov. 9 at Texas
Nov. 16 vs. LSU
Nov. 23 vs. Ole Miss
Nov. 30 at Florida State

Probably not. It would shock me if this team started playing well enough to go 6-6, but there are still winnable games here with some teams not looking as good as we thought they would.

We should have a puncher's chance against UCF, UK, LSU and FSU, but my prediction right now vs those 4 is 1-3. We are bad.

I don't think we have any chance vs Tennessee, Georgia, Texas or Ole Miss.

If Napier gets Florida bowl eligible, he might deserve coach of the year honors in the SEC.

I see a path to bowl eligibility. I would put it at about 40%.

He needs wins against Kentucky, UCF, FSU. That gets him to 5 wins. I doubt they can beat LSU, but it's at home so I wouldn't rule it out completely. I think LSU is the better team, but they haven't been playing well even when they are winning. So if they can upset LSU, then I would put the odds up over 50%. The only road game against teams they have to beat is Florida State, and that is the one team I would take Florida over without a 2nd thought this year.

To get this team bowl eligible would take a coaching miracle, I don't believe Napier has this in him. If the Gators lose to UCFCC he is toast, and the
" Lane Train" rumors are deafening for the rest of the season.

Let’s say Kiffin is who you go after. Napier is either fired mid season, or latest by late November

If OM is in playoff contention do you honestly expect him to leave in the midst of it? And if he does, is that the character message you want sent?

The other option is we shite the bed and are not in playoff contention, in which case much of the sting for us will be taken away.

This situation isn’t as cut and dry as it would have been in the past for poaching OM coaches

Looking forward to this years installment of “fans who can’t stop talking about Kiffin coming to their school soon”. It’s a great prequel to “we ended up with someone else so obviously we never wanted Kiffin” as well as “ah frick we still suck with this new guy”

Really should be a Netflix special.

Have no doubt, Kiffin is who UF boosters will go after.
The timing sucks, having to wait until after the playoffs, everybody knows that, but it would be a short-term sacrifice for a long-term gamble of success.

I agree, and I wouldn't worry about Kiffin going to Florida. We don't have our shite together enough to poach a top coach. Our prez is a dumbass and only filling in anyway. Our AD is a dumbass and couldn't get a top coach if he was his brother. The alumni/students/fans are not really together on what we want either. So I would put the possibility of Kiffin to UF at about 5% tops. We are gonna end up with some middlin coach who is an up and comer or an older guy who has had success, only with very little tread on the tires.

I doubt it. 6-6 probably saves his job.

I doubt he gets to 6-6 though.

That would take upsets over UCF, LSU, KY and a win @ FSU. I give us almost zero chance to beat GA, TX, Ole Miss or TN.

They beat a bad MSU team that may not win another game, let's pump the brakes on if Napier and Florida are back

If he can continue to get Mertz/Lagway performance like this past weekend then they have a fighting chance and you would have to give Napier credit for that.
