I think we need to pump the breaks a bit

Coach O still hasn’t won a Championship so of course he isn’t an all time great or anything like that.... but to say he has the exceeded expectations is a gigantic understatement.

LSU has for the most part played well under him and is recruiting at an elite level. By now many, myself included, thought LSU was going to be struggling.

he's always been a great recruiter. that's really all he has to do. he lets his coaches coach. if miles would have done the same, he'd still be here.

both don't seem to be the best x's and o's men.

So if I said something like how many top 10 teams has joe burrow beat at home, I can negate all but 1 of his wins over top 10 teams as well. It would be very disingenuous to do such.

OK, then how many total teams have hung 450+ on Texas anywhere?

You can acknowledge that there’s been a step change in LSU offensive efficieny without saying they’ll beat everyone by 50. I’m excited to see what this looks like vs. SEC competition.

Oddly enough you answered your question at the beginning of your sentence. Oklahoma has hung 500+ on texas 4 of the last 8 years. I only looked up those 8 games, so that was quite easy.

I'm also impressed by his search for tactical innovation and his Humility.

A lot of coaches simply don't have this. You can tell Coach O isn't trying to do it all himself else it would be a disaster just like it would be for anyone else who did things like that.

He has had LSU in a steady upward trajectory, he stands back and lets his staff do their job, and he flags the deficiencies and fixes them. I think he is a great coach, who is humble and he knows how to run a big time program.

LSU can “easily” lose half of our SEC games this year?

First off, not everyone runs the Swiss Cheese defensive formation like Texas does.

Secondly, is it that far fetched to believe LSU will lose in Tuscaloosa this year considering LSU has lost 8 straight to the Tide? That could be one loss.

Thirdly, is it that far fetched to believe LSU will drop at least one SEC West game this year to another team beside Alabama? LSU has lost another SEC West game in every single season since 2013, and averages 1.5 such losses during that time frame.... that's not even counting potential losses to Alabama or the SEC East.

And lastly, LSU does play Florida.... a team that despite not setting the world on fire in recent years has defeated LSU three times since 2012.

My guess is that LSU goes 10-2 this year... .with losses to Bama and at least one other team. I think 9-3 is certainly possible though.

Saturday night was the rare game where both teams were a lot better than I expected.

LSU is a legit contender and Texas is a damn good squad with impressive athletes. Both QBs were awesome

One question though. How many times have teams hung 450+ yds on a Texas defense in Austin?

Once.

Now do the same for the LSU Defense? When was the last time this very average Texas offense under Sam Ehlinger racked up 530 total yards during regulation in a game?

Zero times.

Literally. Since the beginning of the 2017 season, with Sam Ehlinger starting most every game, Texas played 28 opponents before LSU came to town and they never once were able to muster the yardage they were able to put up against LSU...... averaging just 398 total yards during regulation in those games.

Then suddenly they rack up 530 total yards against LSU. Is that not at all concerning to Tiger fans? What will Tua do?

Some LSU fans allowed their discontentment with the hiring process to develop into a personal hatred of CEO. Some even hate him BECAUSE "he talks like us."

Yeah. You wouldn't want to jump the gun too early. That would be like adding Bama NCs for this season and the next one to an already ridiculous list.
