I get UNC - they add basketball. But their football stadium capacity is 51,000, between Vandy and MSU. They field good teams because of the local talent. The fans are passionate about basketball and moderate about football.

Baylor is one of the few fan bases that are shitty in real life as they are on line, their hospitality matches their online forum personas, they don’t turn being petty off, at least they were like that when I went to away games there, stayed at the dorms
Baylor did a skit mocking the milkmen

You basically have every blue blood basketball school, and almost all the major football schools too. This league could exist on its own apart from whatever the BIG10 does. It would not be totally unrealistic.

I’ll never understand how/why this [weekly] discussion doesn’t stop at: VA Tech, Clemson, FSU, and [possibly] Oklahoma State.
Because someone has to lose, and I'd rather not see my alma mater(s) drown in losses or potential losses every year. It's bad enough having to play Alabama, UGA, LSU, Florida, etc., every year or every other year, so the last thing that anyone should want is more and more contenders.
P.S. Also, there's nothing else to talk about.

Baylor?!?!?!
Have you ever been to Waco? It is boring as hell.
Swap out UNC or FSU for Baylor.

I hope this expansion thing is over for a while. If the powers that be insist on expansion then the state of North Carolina should be at the top of the list. Which team I am not sure. It is top ten in population, which means a lot of TVs.
Who brings the most passion in football, UNC or NC St? Each has on occasion had a decent team. Basketball does not move the meter when it comes to expansion.

Baylor is a bunch of self righteous aholes who won't even clap when an opposing player is helped off the field.

Seems like Maryland, UVA, Duke and UNC would be the obvious choices. We'd evaluate the basketball status of the conference and keep football relative to the conference.

Expansion is a constant topic amongst our fanbase - given the financial realities make it likely UNC will be headed to the SEC or BIG in the next few years.
I would say 75-80% of our football fans want to join the SEC, due to the Southern rivalries and want no part of playing away games in the upper mid west. The problem is that our administration strongly favors the BIG because it believes we align more academically with that conference. Plus, our 28 sports better fit the BIG. Only time will tell who wins out. It is rumored that we've had a standing offer to join either conference since at least 2012.
The basketball only fans don't have a strong preference, provided we continue to play dOOK either as an in conference or out of conference opponent.

The "Swimswam 4" (UNC/Virginia/FSU/Clemson) makes the most sense in terms of expanding markets and brands. It also will help expand and reinforce our recruiting area out East while keeping the Big Ten out of the Southeastern heartland (maybe they'll try Miami + Georgia Tech, but those schools would be really isolated).
Tell Notre Dame they'd be more special in the SEC than in the Big Ten. In the Big Ten they'd be just one of 11 Midwest teams that play each other and then get a trip to the coast each year. On the other hand, they could be the "snowy outpost" of the SEC; every conference game they play would be talked up as a "clash of cultures" and get plenty of national attention. Plus, they seemed to enjoy being in the World Series this year. Their baseball program will be hurt if they switch from the ACC to the Big Ten; they would get a big boost from playing in the SEC every week.
Pair them up with Arizona (another outpost, but good for recruiting and a decent-sized state) and call it a rest at 22.

Culturally and football-wise Clemson is definitely an SEC team but they don't have much else going on for them...
