I think Lane Kiffin misjudged LSU-Ole Miss

He went to LSU because he didn’t feel you could win a championship at Ole Miss. So he left them for LSU
But this is outdated thinking. It’s not 2016 anymore.
I bet regret set in when he saw Ole Miss nearly make the National title game, and then Indiana won the whole thing. It proved you don’t need to be at an “elite” program to win a championship anymore
Kiffin could’ve been a legend at Ole Miss; he will have to work very hard to match the level of Les Miles or Ed Orgeron at LSU in this era of 12 team playoff
I think it was a mistake for Kiffin to leave Mississippi in 2026. If it was 2016, different story

Agreed. Ole Miss could have won the natty last year and could this year. Not sure why he abandoned a team that has just as good a shot as any team he will have at LSU. He missed out on two great chances to win a natty

Also OM seems to be doing fine. Really cannot understand why people are still so emotional about it.

Thst goes against the grain, here today.
So if Kiffin plus Ole Miss in year six could have beaten Indiana and Miami then I think he will be fine at LSU By year three.

Location/university doesn’t really matter if the BMDs are willing throw away millions to recruit the players you need as a HC. Yes, LSU is in a recruiting hotbed so it’s easier to recruit but elite players were willing to go to Ole Miss anyway.

But we live in a world where Ole Miss can actually win a National Championship

Lane being at LSU doesnt affect anyone besides the teams we play. OM beat him, so the story is just for estrogen filled queens at this point

I think he’s a very simple front-runner. LSU has more prestige than Ole Miss so he went there. By the same token he’d leave LSU for Bama or the Dallas Cowboys. If it was baseball he’d want to coach the Yankees

Kiffin didnt misjudge the programs. He misjudged Chambliss.
You put anyone else in at QB and LSU wins that. Almost easily.

Indiana is the outlier.
The odds of winning at LSU are substantially higher than Ole Miss.
LSU just spent more money on a roster than every other time, while paying a massive buyout. NIL opportunities far outweigh Ole Miss because LSU is 10x the brand of Ole Miss. LSU also has the inherent advantage of being in LA for recruiting. The #1 player in the country last year was on our campus for HS.
Ole Miss just had a transcendent QB who also would have come to LSU had he not been so good that he won his way out of making a choice during the playoff.

A team he built from scratch too.
If he wins @ LSU it wont be the same as it could've been in Oxford.

I remember hearing multiple times ANYONE can win a NC at LSU. Well... except for Brian Kelly apparently.
