I understand they were concerned with the class. Obviously Saban bailed because NIL leveled the field and he couldnt keep buying championships.
I just never understood the blind panic that forced the snap hire of Deboer lol.

It's really a shame because Rich Rodriguez was available.

Saban left because he's in his 70s.

The mental deficiencies demonstrated on this board daily are really something to see

Saban retired and their roster was gonna get pillaged. Deboer has been a winner pretty everywhere he has been. Hire looked good at the time but honestly its tough following a coach like Saban.

What better options were there?

DeBoer was the hottest name on the market that off-season

Lanning wasn't an option

Dabo wasn't an option

Kirby wasn't an option

I doubt Sark was leaving UT and their money

I doubt Ryan Day was leaving (and I doubt he'd be better than KDB in the SEC)

It may not work out, but saying it was a panic hire is major hindsight bias.

There are very few “homerun” hires in this game. Not sure who would have been better on paper that didn’t also have huge question marks.

I'm going to predict Lane is about to be overrated by many future posters in this thread, even after their failure of a year last year and being a walking question mark.

It certainly has in basketball. Now the SEC is king over both the ACC and Big East.

Yes why didn't they get on of those coaches in waiting like Kiffen and Dabo?
