And they have no shot at the title. Why are UGA fans here so defensive about it? It’s blatantly obvious if you watch their games against vastly inferior talent
This UGA team is not as talented as the last 2 years teams have been at this point in the season. Losses to the NFL and the portal and some injuries that UGA has not contended with much in the last couple of years has lowered the talent level considerably. Still among the most talented...probably in the top 5 or 6 most talented...teams in the nation. UGA toyed with their food last season as well...the Mizzoo game last year and the Auburn game this year were almost identical with UGA beating both teams who were similarly talented. UGA /
SC was almost identical to the Kent State game last year with the exception that USC is vastly better talented than Kent State. At this point I would be more surprised if UGA survives the regular season undefeated than I would be if they were to do so and 3 peat. This week's game will reveal A BUNCH about UGA because UK is no joke...they are a slightly less talented version of UGA that is playing better as a team than UGA is. UGA best come to work or they will get beat and could get boat raced. Unlikely at home and unlikely that UK is able to run the ball like they did against UF and unlikely UGA's defense ain't pretty sore assed by Saturday after a week of hearing about Auburn putting up 200+.
I don't think, if the CFP committee were to have a poll today, UGA would be #1. I am not sure they would be any higher than #4 and maybe not that high. They weren't #1 in the first CFP last year. We have not looked good but we have played no one and we looked like shite against some pretty shitty teams last year. We are definitely not as talented as we have been but the potential is there its just not developed to its fullest...that may not be so after this week of hearing about how bad they are. Or it could be that they really are that bad. I expect a tight game through 3 and UGA winning by about 10 in the fourth. Say 30-20 or 34-24.

This Georgia team will likely finish somewhere between 12-2 to 14-1. All of sudden that’s “not a good UGA team”?

I watched the game on Saturday with my GA family and that was the first time I have watched GA play all year. My family had been complaining about the team all year and I really didn't give it much attention, just thought they were overreacting.
I was surprised at how GA looked and yes I admit I am comparing it to the last 2 years. They are far from elite or even great, but they have done enough to win and sometimes that it good enough. It will be interesting when they play a team with a winning record and a team that actually has a pulse.

They are comparing them to 2022 and 2021. This is a good Georgia team compared to everyone else currently in the SEC. It will be tough for them to win the Natty though. If they do, Kirby needs a big fat raise and a statue.
I think a comparable team in terms of performance (but not in how they got there) was 2017 UGA.
That UGA team lost in OT in the national championship game.
It also barely beat ND (1 point win), lost to AU by 23 in the regular season and beat SC by 14. It wasn't a dominant team, but was still among the best in the nation.
I think that's what you're looking at this year. The past two years UGA absolutely smashed opponents. This year UGA is still capable of beating every team and likely will be favored against most if not all of them. But they're not going to smash everyone.

I have faith that Kirby, Schumann and Muschamp will get this defense thing straightened out. I am not sure I am seeing as much effort by the defense that has been there in the past.
Some one asked Kirby at his new conference this week if they were working on schemes and he said no, they were working on hitting and getting off blocks.
I personally think Beck has been a pleasant surprise. A guy with little experience on the field and he has held up his end quite well, imo. He was 23 of 33 the other day and that is winning QB play. He has plenty of room for improvement like they all do.

The Auburn game proved one thing that Georgia definitely has and is very important:
C-O-M-P-O-S-U-R-E.
They didn't panic. They didn't play frantically. They weren't desperate. They just began to execute and make the plays. That was mental toughness being developed right there on the field and it's going to serve them well down the road.
Still, there are other things to work on like stop turning the ball over and getting a killer instinctive-like attitude.

They’re a good team, just not a great one as they have been the last 2 years. You’re talking to the spoiled fans who think we shouldn’t ever lose a game or have a crap game.

Beating Auburn at Auburn was a good win.
In the summer, I had that pegged for our toughest game of the regular season.
And I was extremely happy that we got the 3:30 timeslot.
Freeze is going to be trouble down the road.
With the QB mobility, I'm worrying more about Ole Miss. But I love UGA at home.

Georgia fans have lost touch with reality. Beck’s 4th Q on the road was the stuff championship teams/players are made of.

Prior to the season, I was worried about SC, but OM's offense was impressive the other night. Luckily, they don't have a defense, and they still have Kiffin coaching them. He'll blunder. The game looks more serious than it did previously, though.

They also do not seem to be standing around waiting on someone else to make a play...that was kind of the case last year in the Mizzoo and Kent State Games...there seemed to be some complacency. It was gone after the scare in COMO. I don't see that this year...everyone seems to be playing HARD. The defense against Auburn was actually trying to do too much and over pursuing...could have been Auburn's scheme but it was happening. AS UGA fans we have seen complacency and unispired play...I do not get that from this team...I get a team which is still trying to gel. Lot of young talent, maybe lacking some older leadership as well. Survive UK, get out of Nashville healthy and make it the BYE week and I think we are good to go...lose to UK this week and we have to back into Atlanta given UKs remaining schedule...do not want to be in that position if making the playoff is the goal...

Any team that doesn't have a running game ranked in the top 50 let alone top 60 5 games into the season is not very good by normal SEC standards period.

The thing is it's wide open this year. There's really no dominant teams, although Texas and FSU have the potential to be elite. I don't think GA would beat those teams, but it's only October. No telling what they'll look like next month.

Because the first 5 games are the most important of the season.
That sounds like Tennessee logic.
I don't think the conference knows how scary this UGA offense will be in November/December/January.
We are getting healthier at wide receiver.
We are getting healthier at tight end.
We are getting healthier at running back.
We will get our best O Lineman back before Florida.
And our first year QB (who already has been brilliant with 2 comeback wins) is getting more and more time in the offense.
And our 2 first year wide receivers (Ra Ra and Dom Lovett) are getting more and more comfortable with the playbook and their timing with Carson.
Tennessee won't know what hit them.

Not true. They are still the best team, even though they aren't as dominating as the last 2 years, not sure anyone can beat them in January.

yeh, there is no basis whatsoever for this statement. There are lots of ways to be a good team.

Be still my beating heart....from your computer to Gods ears friend!
I think you are spot on. This weeks game is the most important of the year. The Auburn was less important than USC but UK is, through week 6, the most important because they may not lose 2 if they beat us this week and with the rest of CFB as good as it is right now its hard to imagine a one loss UGA getting in the playoff without winning the SEC CG game...may even be tough if we win out and lose in Atlanta.
That being said Kirby and company seem to find a way to make it real when a game is as important as this one is. It happened against Michigan and Alabama in 2021 and it happened against UT and TCU in 2022. UK may find itself in the same boat this weekend. I certainly hope so....

How about next week against Kentucky?

Georgia hasn’t lost in Athens in 4 years. I think it will take a better team than Kentucky to break that streak. They’ve been on the road once this season. Vanderbilt. This will be different

So far, this is correct. Better hope the light doesn’t turn on for this team.
