Also not a college game but I will forever call bullshite on the Patriots 2016 Superbowl drive that conveniently had 3 automatic first downs penalties that came after 3 straight 3rd down stops.
People clown the Falcons for losing but their defense was completely gassed the rest of the game, I dont think they stopped them once after that drive

2019 Iron Bowl. Gus pulled a fast one by “sneaking” our punter into the offensive formation and Bama illegally substituted their return man. Allowed us to kneel it out.

If the dog pee doesn't happen, and Ole Miss wins the game, Matt Luke stays on longer, and Lane Kiffin ends up somewhere else. It was all part of the plan.

There were some bizarre penalties called in Gainesville in 2009 against Arkansas that gave the game to Florida.

2010 LSU vs. Tenner. LSU is behind with seconds left in the game and the ball on the 1 yard line. JJ fumbles the snap and falls on the ball. Time runs out and the Vols win. Vol players rush the field in celebration while LSU players look around dejected at the loss....
But wait...
Vols flagged for 13 defenders on the field, so LSU gets one last shot on an untimed down. Ridley makes good on the second attempt and LSU steals a victory.
I'm an LSU fan, but damn if I didn't have some sads for Vol fans after that.

people forget Florida had a player spit on a Florida State player in the 2023 game that changed the momentum. UF was up 12-0 late in the first half, stops FSU for a loss on their first play of the drive but Jamari Lyons spit on a FSU player drawing a 15 yard penalty and ejection; instead of 2nd a long, the Noles get a first down (FSU had 24 yards of offense and 2 first downs to that point in the game) and some much needed field position. FSU would go on to score on that drive to cut the score to 12-7 with under a minute to go in the half. FSU had done absolutely nothing in that game offensively, but this provided a little bit of a spark.

Stll think he should be runninh stadium steps at 5am for the spitting incident or just kicked off the team..but the shoe toss will always be the best penalty we have. It was funny as hell.

Phantom offensive pass interference against LSU last year. One of many bizarre flags that game.

Yes they missed the extra point backed up 15 yards.

Wasn't the AU kick 6 because of a penalty and saban wanted time put back on the clock or something bizarre like that?
Nah, the Kick 6 caused the Kick 6 more so than a penalty.

Roughing the kicker (punter) a few years ago in Mizzou - UK game. I know technically it was the correct call - but thats only because no one in their right mind ever imagined a scenario where the ball is snapped 30 yards behind the punter would end the way this play did . They changed the rule because of this play the next year. And to be fair - Mizzou would still have had to score there to win.

Dallas Baker against Tennessee. Should have been offsetting. Refs continued the screwup by not starting the clock after the penalty. It allowed Tenn enough time to get in position to kick the winning FG

The Sooner Schooner
With the score tied early in the fourth quarter, Oklahoma attempted a short field goal, from 22 yards out. It was good, and the Sooner Schooner rode out onto the field, as was tradition for Sooner scores. However, the play was nullified due to an illegal procedure penalty on Oklahoma due to a player not reporting his temporary jersey number to the officials, which he was required to do before the ball was snapped.
Pulled by two Shetland ponies, the wagon got stuck on the wet grass, ending up in front of the Huskies' sideline, and the Sooners were assessed a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Lashar's ensuing 42-yard kick was blocked, keeping the game tied at fourteen.
The Orange Bowl had returned to natural grass nine years earlier in 1976; the Sooners' home field in Norman had artificial turf from 1970 through 1993.
Washington would go on to win the game 28-17 and BYU won the national championship after beating 6-6 Michigan in the Holiday Bowl.

I was at that game with a Tenn alum! He enjoyed the thrill of victory AND the agony of defeat.
