What I don't understand is why MSU fans aren't allowed to mention the deficiencies that Mullen had as a coach

Because a lot of them are tied to the location and prestige of MSST.

You guys are not some football powerhouse with recruits lining up to play. The only reason it looks like that this year is because Ole Miss is under sanction and Mullen turned a 4 win average over 9 years team into an 8 win average over 9 years.

He also accomplished this while three teams from the same division either won or were in the championship consistently every year he was there.

Heck, even last year he played both SEC Championship teams and the National Champion in the regular season at the worst school in the West.

You guys are not that great of a football program, and you guys have to understand that no one can recruit that place without some serious help -- like Ole Miss being sanctioned.

Currently MSU is on pace to pull in a class better than any that Mullen pulled in.

Meanwhile, Florida is on pace to pull in its worst class in years.

You were saying?

Tulane and Georgia Tech have more recent SEC Championships, the team was averaging 4 wins a season for 9 years and MSST only ranks dead last or second to last in: Spending, reveue, fan attendance, prestige, location, academics and facilities (while Mullen was there, he got them upgraded with success).

But yeah, Mullen's definitely the problem.

I feel like there was no shortage of MSU fans (at least on the team boards) complaining about Mullen's play calling late in games, his recruiting, or some disasters at DC (Sirmon). Of course tGrind isn't gonna cover those things--it's tGrind. But Mullen is a good coach with some bad problems that he'll have to fix to be successful at Florida.

From 01 to 09 (Mullen's first season) State finished dead last in the West 7 of 9 seasons and one of the other two seasons they were tied for last with Ole Miss. They haven't finished last since 09. But without the only reason their program isn't still literally the worst in all of CFB they're going to win the National Championship and become the 3rs or 4th team ever with 10 draft picks in one year

The problem is Ole miss sanctions aren't that bad. They don't go to 1 bowl and lose some scholarships for one class. In 9 years at Miss state Mullen averages between 20s-30s in recruiting. You remove him bring him to a program with more resources and talent while his old school replaces him with a first time HC who's never coached in the South. What happens? UF is in the 30s while Miss St is 11th in the country. It doesn't matter what Mullen took over. UF has more $, elite recruits, history and nearby attractions than Miss St. The constant is Mullen.

State fans in general are pretty realistic when it comes to expectations and reality, don’t let a handful of posters on tRant make you think otherwise. That being said, we follow our team probably a little more closely than you do, and I can assure you that OM being sanctioned has nothing to do with our new coaching staff’s current recruiting class. The excitement seen from our fanbase is a result of Moorhead showing a willingness to recruit higher rated players from out of state, something Mullen showed little interest in doing.

You're right almost 50% of your class is OOS. While also locking down the major in state guys

For the life of me, I’ll never understand why you invest so much of your life trying to disprove fans of other teams. Gotten to the point where I almost genuinely worry about your well being. A lot of hate hides a lot of depression.

First thing you'll learn about debate, when somebody abandons the subject and starts making personal remarks about their opponent its as good as admitting defeat.

ETA:

By the way, all this time you say I invest, if you aren't retarded it takes literally a couple minutes to Google and find any stat you want

One bowl ban a handful of scholarships isn't going to hurt them that much. Matt Luke not being able to coach will. Hell Ole miss is #15 in the country & #7 in the SEC. So much for sanctions

No, what happens is that in spite of being a transition coach coming to a school that just finished with 4 wins and hasn't been very impressive over a decade -- he broke his record at MSST for highest class he's ever signed, he was 4th in the SEC and did it with about two months of recruiting available to him you stupid lil' bitch. This isn't even counting the transfers that came through.

I noticed flaws as early as the 2011 season. Another thing, he went brain dead on recruiting positions of need after 2010. So I was pointing things out as early as 2011, maybe earlier.

You created a thread saying Mullen was overrated yet loved him. Sounds like you're just full of shite and want to act like you were ahead of your time when you patently were not.

In fact, you were very positive about MSST in all of the posts I read.......up until the moment Mullen left.
