There might be something to it 'cause a major donor to the UGA program received word through the grapevine while he's vacationing in England right now...that an insider located in Jacksonville has already heard that the game...will be moved to each school's respective campuses.

I'm unable to verify, but it's hitting some UGA message boards.

Have any Florida fans heard anything to this affect?

Good. It should be that way.

Haven't heard anything or read anything on any message board outside the typical stuff that pops up every time the contract is up for negotiation.

This would be a mistake, imo. I understand the reasoning from the coaches’ point of view, but there’s a uniqueness to the game that means something.

What would be UF/UGA fans thoughts about a home, away, neutral cycle arrangement? I know the logistics are more complicated than that, but just in theory?

I'd be for something like Neutral 8/10 years, with a Home/Home thrown in every decade... But I don't love the idea of taking this fully Home/Home personally, and a 2 on/2 off seems silly and difficult to manage.

lemme get this straight:

a major uga donor heard,
through the grapevine (whatever that means, and however 2nd/3rd/10th hand that is),
while he's overseas,
that another person in FL,
heard the game is moving.

And you then heard from the original uga donor.

Do I have that right?

Would suck. Anyone against this game has never been to it. It's the best atmosphere in CFB. Will be very sad to see this weekend go away to a basic home and home.

Good, move it or don't move it. No care because we will play one way or another and sometimes when people complain you have to call their bluff. Not the end of the world if they move it. And they can possibly go back to playing it in Jax if it doesn't work out.

JAX radio seem convinced payout is going be increased beyond anything they’ll make home and home to keep it in Duval. The perception here though is Kirby wants it moved for recruiting alone, while Florida doesn’t want it moved but will play along for the bigger payout.

WG...supposedly someone's spreading on the internet that he was told by an insider in Jax that he's already heard the game will not be renewed for Jax.

Just curious if anyone here (UGA or UF) might've heard something similar. That's all.

I have a hard time believing anything in Jax could be kept secret about this if true. At this point, I don't care if they move it or not.

Recruiting isn't as big as a deal as Kirby makes it.

The neutral site loses 1 home game every other season that we can entertain recruits/families.

It sucks when a highly rated recruit who has a busy family only has 1 open weekend out of 6 or 7 to visit. And it happens to be that florida weekend.

But we are talking about the biggest annual game of the year being changed for the 1 in 500 recruiting inconvenience.

I would love to start a rotation... Athens / Gainesville / Jacksonville. Rotate it every 3 years so we get the experience of Jacksonville, but also getting a big game on campus.

10 or so years ago when this contract was up the Georgia folks mentioned something to the effect that the airport in Athens didn't have a runway long enough to support flying a plane from there to Jacksonville. They had to bus into Atlanta and then fly--which is a pain.

Supposedly the Greater Jacksonville folks acted like that was no problem to finance an upgrade in Athens.

Did that ever materialize?

I'd rather it stay as is..but if they do switch it up it has to be rotating like this. Removing Jacksonville all together would suck. I seriously have my calendar marked for this yearly. One of my favorite parts of the year.
