re: I haven't heard this mentioned much in the CFP chaos. Who is out if Bama and BYU both win

precedent
Auburn, 2017, squarely in the playoffs. Loses SEC champ game to UGA and is knocked out of playoffs and actually replaced by a team they beat only 9 days prior…..
Bama didn’t seem to think that was unfair then. Hmm, I wonder why…..

You mean the 4 team playoff, not the 12 team playoff.
The precedent was set a year ago when the ACC runner up was not punished for losing their CCG, despite their horrible SOR

SMU was 11-2. Bama was 9-3
That isn’t comparable. This year you would be comparing 10-3 bama and 10-2 Miami
10-2 is a better record

The size of the playoff doesn’t change that logic
Bama has looked pretty shakey for the last month. If they lose anything but a very hard fought tight game they will drop

It would warm my soul and probably every SEC fan's soul if somehow Notre Dame got left out! LOL! It is a shame they have such easy access to the playoff.

That FSU loss would probably temper the anger from Sankey.
Sankey is a weak little bitch who gets pushed around by ESPN and the B1G. Such a downgrade from Slive.

BYU is not beating Tech. BYU is simply not that good, that previous Tech game exposed them pretty badly. Bama has a shot against UGA but UGA is playing much better football right now and DeBoer is not Saban.
That said it would be entertaining as hell. Might as well throw in Duke winning the ACC too.
I would love for it to come down to ND vs Miami for the last slot and watch the Committee deal with that since I DGAF about either of them.
As for "precedents" they mean nothing. The committee has different members every year and they are political animals, they change their minds on what matters week by week much less year by year.

I think the committee raises ND above OU this week in ‘preparation’ for this, siting OU offensive struggles, and ND’s ‘complete performance’. Watch…

They'll jump ND either tomorrow or Sunday

Who you play matters. SMU didn’t beat a single ranked team. They only played one (BYU) in the regular season and they lost. Then they played another one in the ACCCG and lost.
What a fricking potato you’ve gotta be to just look at records and say blindly that 11-2 vs 9-3 isn’t comparable. Or 10-2 and 10-3 aren’t comparable. You should be arguing hard for JMU to get an at large if you thought SMU had a playoff resume last year.
Watching college football fans root for the downfall of the sport is what’s most perplexing to me. Some of yall want big games cancelled. You particularly, amaze me that you get through life on a daily basis without a helmet. What an asinine take. “10-2 is better than 10-3 that’s all that matters”
frickin retard.

Just look at betting odds. Notre Dame is -400 to make the playoff. BYU is +380. Could the odds change after the rankings tomorrow? Sure. But Vegas sees it as 1:1

What happens if there's upsets in every single conference championship game?...hmmm
The answer is the same as this question.
Two conference champions from the ACC and below conferences will take a spot. Really doesn't matter who those teams are.
Both Big 10 teams are in, win or lose.
So the only games where the underdog could be out with a loss are the Big 12 and SEC.

Georgia would be out.
What makes them a playoff contender if they are obviously worse than one of the participants?
Home loss and neutral site loss to the same team in the same season = no bueno.
Just speaking hypotheticals and potential gibberish that could come out of Yurachek’s mouth.

With a Bama win, where do you move them? 11-2 regular season and championship game winners
Yurachek probably drops us to 12 if we don't rush for 200.

The ACC runner up dropped below a Big 10 team who didn't play in their conference championship game (Indiana).
You're just mad that they didn't ALSO drop below Bama.

Except UGA beat Ole Miss head to head... so Ole Miss would then be out, right?
Especially since they also lost their coach.

If it’s down to Tumbleweed Tech, OU and ND, they will leave out Tech

This is a possibility for sure. But they had the chance to do that already and didn't. Reason being the strength of schedule gap is just too big.
The odds right now say it would be ND. ND making the playoffs and Tech winning their game are pretty much the same betting odds right now.

One time could be by accident but twice and there’s some science backing.

They will kick Texas Tech out if they lose. This entire thing is a sham. They have their orders to keep Notre Dame in. It’s obvious because they have already been in, and they have to keep USC ranked to help justify it. They could care less about Texas Tech or BYU.

This is what to look for. If this happens, tomfoolery has commenced and the committee can not be trusted.
… for real though.
