But once you are there, people fall in love with A&M for the most part.
That could be said for the majority of campuses.
It amazes me after bragging about buying recruits aggie fans are now saying it was actually about the staff, campus, whatever but yet funny that has never helped them before this year to get a top class.

Yeah, that makes no fricking sense. You lost a recruit because he believed you had a lot of money to spend on him?

If you worked your arse off for as long as he has to get this class it would probably irritate you as well.
So he didn't work his arse off the previous 4 or 5 years to sign the best class? It was just a coincidence that it happened when the NCAA approved NIL ( but providing incentives to sign on is still against NCAA rules). Are you actually this naive?
Not at all. Once again there is a monster difference between saying NIL had nothing to do with it and saying it had everything to do with it.
Certainly Jimbo has been working hard at recruiting, always has. He had monster classes at FSU as well though this is certainly his best. The greater point is that saying it was all NIL is either lazy or dishonest. A&M had a hell of lot of other things break their way with this class:
1. Exceptionally strong year of talent in Texas, especially Houston.
2. Key early commits that became active recruiters, especially Bobby Taylor.
3. Coaching changes at LSU and OU and chaos at Texas.
4. While this season was disappointing the prior year we went 9-1 with an Orange Bowl win.
5. Went all in for the Bama game recruiting wise and it was an ideal showcase, essentially got us Walter Nolen which was our top recruit who then became a recruiter for us.
6. We are dropping hundreds of millions in new facilities we are showing to recruits including a new academic building just for athletes that is going to be ridiculous.
That's just a few factors besides the NIL that turned the tide for us. The reality is NIL is more of a way to get into the game more than it is a way to get most recruits. Recruits can and do get paid everywhere, especially Top 100 Players. Those guys are looking at where they see their best chance to make the NFL and win far more than getting $40k at school A vs $50k at school B and that seems to be the argument.
As for Jimbo losing it the other reason was Saban bragging about how his QB was getting $1 million in NIL and Texas openly setting up the OL NIL deal and then signing the best OL class in the country. So it pissed him off to act as though A&M was the only ones offering NIL to players and the only reason someone would go there.

NIL was pushed for current collegiate players, not recruiting. HS recruits should not be eligible for NIL deals and only players that have completed their first season should receive NIL, IMO. Hopefully that change is made.
The problem is the Courts have basically told the NCAA to stay out of it, so they have deferred to the states and the states' laws pertaining to NIL. I don't see how a law could be constitutional in any state if they restricted athletes accepting NIL money only if they were already enrolled in college. There are ways around that too even if that was a possibility. This is simply a classic example of people trying to fix something only to create even bigger problems. Same can be said about the portal and no-penalty transfers.
I honestly think the only way to "fix" things would be for the NCAA to become a semi-professional league with player contracts and salary caps. That way these players are now contract employees who can't just leave if they feel like it and at least put some sort of restrictions on pay structures. Otherwise, I don't see any way the current model is sustainable long-term. It's just going create a huge divide between the top 10-15 programs and everyone else, to a much more extreme level than it already is and ultimately not be healthy for the sport as a whole.
Basically, money and greed have turned the sport upside down

Take it easy on poor ole Sidewalk. It has been clear he has some difficulties ie posting 1000 posts a month etc. It is best to just ignore him. He doesn't understand a lot.
When an established SEC coach strutted into this years Texas High School Coaches Convention and bragged publicly that his freshman QB was getting $800,000 NIL money, and then spouted off that the NIL was bad when he left the state, Jimbo had enough.
The Supreme Court neutered the NCAA and college football has changed. I don't like it but it is what it is.

Not naïve. I am the expert here. Not you. I am an Aggie. I have experienced what I am stating. You have not. It’s not uncommon to have coaches students and players speak of Aggieland in this way. Would he be here if not being paid. No. No coach would. But if the money is equal can you hire him away? Also no.
What I speak of is true.

Because at the end of the day, we paid less for our amazing class than LSU did for their shitty class.
Gotta make the 2023 recruits aware that there is still plenty of pie to go around. Why take LSU’s money(which is about to run out given how broke they are) and play with dog shite teammates, when you could come to Aggieland and get the best of both worlds?
Staying on top of the narrative is important. Would you want Boudreaux to brag about his crawfish boil when he paid $13/lb and got some of the tiniest mud bugs you’ve ever seen? No? Well that’s how Jimbo feels about the swamp kittens.

It's pretty simple actually.
Not that simple.
A&M goes 8-4 (1)
Has a SEC West all time losing record. 26-27
Has a SEC West all time losing record at Kyle field.
It is not simple to understand how A&M came up with the
best recruiting class of all time.

Look at previous recruiting for AM over the past 8 years…it’s nothing like this year, what changed?
quote:
1. Exceptionally strong year of talent in Texas, especially Houston.
Texas always has a strong year of instate talent. So, wrong.
quote:
2. Key early commits that became active recruiters, especially Bobby Taylor.
Every major program has this happen. So, wrong.
quote:
3. Coaching changes at LSU and OU and chaos at Texas.
Somewhat buy this as it can help with a recruit or two, but Texas has been chaos for a decade. Why didn’t any other school benefit from LSU/OU like AM? Just AM lol, wrong again.
quote:
4. While this season was disappointing the prior year we went 9-1 with an Orange Bowl win.
Covid year, no fans, limited recruiting attendance. That dog doesn’t hunt baw.
quote:
5. Went all in for the Bama game recruiting wise and it was an ideal showcase, essentially got us Walter Nolen which was our top recruit who then became a recruiter for us.
Every major program does this. Nothing out of the ordinary. Does it help, sure, doesn’t create a tidal wave of high rated recruits with a history of 8-4
quote:
6. We are dropping hundreds of millions in new facilities we are showing to recruits including a new academic building just for athletes that is going to be ridiculous.
LSU/Alabana/Fla/UGA/Texas to name a few, have all done this. Nothing new.
Look, AM has signed 8-5stars over the previous 8 years but NIL was the reason to signing 7 this year lol. Only been in top 5 twice over that span. Everything you listed isn’t extraordinary and more of mental gymnastics to not admit NIL was the driving force of this class…that’s exactly what Jimbo did yesterday. It wasn’t some perfect storm by winning vs alabana and the staff working really hard as though they hadn’t in previous years. Only 1 thing changed…just 1….own it.

Saban bragged about Young getting his NIL deal while he was already a student enrolled at UA. Fisher is deflecting because the issues from coaches, writers, and fans is that a&m is being rumored to get NIL deals for recruits who have not yet even enrolled.
If Jimbo and aggie fans are so blind to not understand the difference between current player getting an NIL deal vs. we are using NIL to recruit players there is no hope for you.
