I see that the Aggies here are trying to spin it as a "We Comin" moment but anyone can clearly see the man was pissed and on the defensive.

Makes no sense. You can pay players now. Just tell the truth, Jimbo.

Maybe he got a notice that Aggie is being investigated, that's the only thing that'd explain the defensive melt and Agscuses.

Exactly. You don't get defensive unless you're up to something.

That's what I don't understand though.

Players are allowed to be paid now so his defensiveness and "well everybody else does it" mantra makes no sense.

I will explain then. You’ll probably disagree. But that’s okay.

Those at A&M actually believe their school is the best university in the world. In. The. World.

They actually believe this. Now from the outside looking in you don’t see it. But once you are there, people fall in love with A&M for the most part.

So I get most don’t understand him. Or agree. But that’s where he’s coming from because he actually believes this.

I don’t either, embrace that shite.

Aggie was proactive with NIL and kicked arse, why deny it?

I don’t get it all.

Jimbo wants everyone to believe that these high caliber players chose Texas 8&4 because of his superior coaching abilities.

All he had to say was "NIL has changed the way we recruit and I am proud of our staff and university to adapting to it the way we have".

Instead he looks like a whiny arse liar.

Still makes no sense.

Alabama has been the best football program in the country for awhile now and they still have to pay kids to go there.

No one is going to Texas A&M for nothing, not sure why he just can't admit it.

Agreed 1000%. If you spin it this way I think it helps you more with recruiting going forward. I don't get what the frick he was trying to accomplish yesterday. Bad look.

It's still against NCAA rules to provide incentives, pay for play, for players to sign with your team.

I have been of the opinion that the major football playing programs would break away from the NCAA and form their own alliance, and that may happen, and those programs will all agree to abide by common regulations.

If, though, that doesn't happen, and the NCAA survives, the vast majority of programs, as in nearly every program in the nation save a few, will support the NCAA in its effort to enforce rules the majority agreed to.

It won't be very difficult to determine what businesses were legit, and what sham collectives are formed to buy players.

It's pretty simple actually. He isn't denying NIL he is just tired of people acting like A&M is the only school doing it or it is the only reason recruits are coming there. He also got irritated by the $30 million BS story that got national run even though it was just made up by some dude named "Sliced Bread" on a random internet site.

If you worked your arse off for as long as he has to get this class it would probably irritate you as well.

If anything Aggie is now the model on what and how to do it, they have just set the bar on how to get it done.

That Jimbo rant is actually fantastic until the very end when he says it has nothing to do with NIL, come on man….

But Aggie is the defacto model on how to do it in 2022, his rage makes zero sense, the whole country is looking at you on how to do it.

I mean ever since NIL became a thing, Aggies have been bragging about how that'd be your "advantage" given your "wealth."

Now y'all are mad if people say that's why you are pulling recruits?

Pretty simple.

And really, not sure the point of rehashing it all again and again. The new order is here. A&M signing top 5 classes is pretty ho hum at this point.

Probably won’t sign the best class every year - not often that you get such a large core contingent from the same city, like we had with the Houston kids this year (who alone reflect a top 10 class).

But top 5 is pretty ho hum now. People can keep complaining about it if they want. Not going to matter.

I’m sure you don’t get this unless you are from Texas but many of the hiring managers in and around Houston are Aggies. Tons of them. Also in Dallas and San Antonio.

Parents in Texas know this. Yes, recruits are primarily going to school for the NFL opportunities but parents also know if that doesn’t play out they want to have good jobs available.

Aggies hire Aggies if possible. It’s well known at A&M.

So no NIL isn’t the whole story. But A&M takes care of their own. It’s a thing.
