I do wonder, though, why Rees would leave a good Notre Dame team to take the same position

at Alabama.

Yeah, Alabama has been better than Notre Dame lately, but it's a tougher conference, not to mention that he played at Notre Dame, though I don't think that's as big a deal to the coaches unless it's as head coach.

Because Alabama has more talent and he can learn a lot from Saban.

It's a no brainer if he ever wants to be anything more than OC at Notre Dame.

The Alabama OC position vaulted guys like Mike Locksley and Brian Daboll into head coaching positions. Rehabbed Kiffin and Sark. Pretty good bet it can do the same for Rees.

Working for Saban is a bigger resume booster than working for Freeman. If Freeman doesn't work out at ND and Rees does well at Bama, he could be in line to be the next HC at Notre Dame.

He can do more with more at Alabama but before you get that kinda crack at bat, you're supposed to do less with more and the guy couldn't really do that at Notre Dame.

He hasn't exactly shown his quality and you're really supposed to do that before you end up at a place like Alabama.

This is sort of an oh well hire.

100%. I'm glad he's getting the opportunity; he needs to grow, and Freeman won't be able to teach him much.

$30M to not be a head coach?

Is that number accurate?

Freeman had to take Rees from what I understand. I don't think he's upset Rees is leaving.

Probably would have left him off that list. He was processed by Saban back into a job he’s already had

You wonder why a young, up and coming OC would want to mentor under the greatest coach of all time?

Really?

I left him in just for the sake of completeness (they're the last five consecutive).

Yes, it had absolutely nothing to do with their ties to Belichick and the NFL. (You guys wanted to run Daboll out of Tuscaloosa not long after he unpacked

Why not bring up the saban guys who have fallen flat on their face?

I heard this on something I was listening to. Said ND will have a harder time competing for NIL money compared to the top schools in the SEC and other conferences.

ND has high admissions standards too, I’d venture to guess 10% of players at our schools wouldn’t qualify

Yes, otherwise it would be called getting fired
