In the past 3 years my father, my uncle, and two of my dad's friends have moved to South Carolina. It is quickly becoming a nice retirement spot on its own.

Notre Dame offered to match any Alabama offer.

Notre Dame averaged 41 rushing attempts and 26 passing attempts per game.

ND rushing and pass attempts rank, by year:
2010: 105th, 25th (Rees starts 4 games)
2011: 92nd, 34th (Rees as Sophomore starter)
2012: 35th, 91st (Rees loses starting job; 12-1)
2013: 107th, 64th (Rees Senior Year)
2014: 82nd, 44th
2015: 79th, 90th
2016: 93rd, 62nd
2017: 26th, 94th
2018: 31st, 62nd
2019: 72nd, 63rd
2020: 28th, 78th
2021: 86th, 33rd
Kelly Avg: 69.67, 61.67

2022: 21st, 117th

This year did see more rushing and less passing than any time in the Kelly era. But that only started after the embarrassing loss to Marshall, and I believe Freeman was the reason for that. Rees' playing years were the least prolific run games of Kelly's ND tenure.

Because Alabama has more talent and he can learn a lot from Saban.

It's a no brainer if he ever wants to be anything more than OC at Notre Dame.

100%. I'm glad he's getting the opportunity; he needs to grow, and Freeman won't be able to teach him much.

Should at least bring in Ensminger to teach the tyke how to run the ball.

He *knows* how. See ND-Clemson 2022. But he hates doing it, and will look for any opportunity to pass.

For a guy who does *not* love a physical game, they sure have been successful running the damn ball

Yep. We have had an awesome OL and RBs. Which is why throwing away the game is so incredibly annoying.

Against Marshall - 38 passes, 37 rushes.
Against Clemson - 17 passes, 47 rushes.

Pretty sure he had his job threatened after the Marshall game.

Wtf is wrong with you????

I know, it hurts to hope Bama does good at anything, but I like the guy. Ideally, Rees would do well, and the Bama D would implode. Which won't happen, but I can dream.

Ian Book was not a passing QB, or in a pass happy offense. Wtf

Kelly's offense isn't the Air Raid, but it is certainly a pass-first offense.

In 2019 Book was 6th in the country in Passing TDs. In 2020 he was 10th in Attempts and 12th in yards.
Long-time off-and-on lurker as an Aggie/Irish fan. Haven't made an account until know, but I've been seeing some misinformation on here that I just can't abide. Some of y'all are saying things like Tommy Rees will bring a physical game to Alabama.

False. Tommy Rees was a spread QB, and learned to OC under Kelly, who loved to pass, pass, pass. Besides USC, every game Notre Dame lost this season was because, despite ND's excellent OL/RBs and putrid QB/WR, Tommy Rees couldn't help but pass pass pass. When having drives that were gaining 4+yds per run, he'd suddenly call passes on 1st and 2nd down, which would go incomplete.

I'm rooting for him at Alabama. I think Saban will develop him well, and look forward to a Saban-developed coach at ND whenever Freeman takes over Ohio State. But it is not his natural instinct to have a physical game.
