They are all legitimate, and an act at the same time because of the shite they get in return. Legend is a convicted murderer. It adds to the weirdness of the show, but his is tame compared to most. Paul gives everybody time, which is evident in the time he gives Robert from Iowa. He gets my up vote for that.
Many characters call in, such as Updyke after poisoning the trees to admit he did it. A buddy of the retard who mowed down several people on the Auburn campus this year called in that day or the next to plead for his buddy to turn himself in. He also gets every coach to call in, and I believe he and Pinkle kinda went at it. Good radio.
Finebaum is trying to turn his show national, but the circus clowns continue dragging him back to his roots. What's funny to me is Finebaum is a Tennessee grad who lives in Birmingham. He has made lots of dough winding people up.
He claims to be neutral between Auburn and Alabama, but if you listened the Monday after Alabama lost his true Crimson colors bled through the radio without question. No way he was trolling everybody. He is a Bammer.

The Finebaum Show is like professional wrestling in the way that a good bit of the regular callers are "characters" in the script to get the rest of the audience fired up. Finebaum is the puppetmaster that plays them against each other and the listening audience to get reactions and ratings.
Tammy, Legend, Darrel, I-man, etc. are all caricatures of themselves while on the air. I don't believe for one second that they are like this in real life.

I got drunk with Legend last year at a bar here in town & I can say with certainty that he's not acting.

He has zero affection for Tennessee. Apparently, Fulmer offended him, so he's been a Bama fan ever since. He even led the Fulmer hate party during the Memphis stuff, having Tommy Gallion on every day to cuss Fulmer.
If, and that's a big if, TennerC is ever back on top again, you will see his true colors shine through. He does have an unhealthy man crush on the Nicktator though.

Sadly these people are very real. They have a message board. I went there a couple of years ago to just try and stun a few of them, shock them into reality, but they are all on this major ego trip of being a Finebaum regular caller. Their entire lives revolve around the show and perceived call status. I went there for 2 days and got banned. This was before it went national. I was just trying to help these people.

As someone who grew up in Birmingham, I can tell you this is not true. In fact, there was a time when he was one of the most hated people on earth by the Alabama fanbase. He's an OT (Original Troll) that subtly switches sides at a pace that most don't even notice. If you think he was hard on Chizik, you should have heard him when Dubose was around.
And yes, Legend really did kill a man and go to prison.
