re: iOS13 Public Beta

I just use the safari app. I’ve never downloaded any other browser to be honest.

Other than this issue I like the new features. I know it will all be a lot more stable in the end but this one drove me a little crazy. I couldn’t even clear search histories. But after resetting all the phone settings it’s all back to normal.

Figured it out. Just reset all settings and we are good to go now.

I am hoping that they release one soon. This happened not long ago and I had to restore from a backup and I’ve been rocking on just fine until early this afternoon. I haven’t been able to find any bug reports or anything so I guess I’ll just have to keep allowing websites as I use them.

iOS13 Public Beta

So, I have been using the iOS13 public beta and have not had any issues until today. All of a sudden I cannot go to any website on my phone without having to allow it because it says it’s a restricted website. I do not have any restrictions turned on through screen time. I have gone in a actually disabled screen time all together where the restrictions can be set and it still happens. I use my phone multiple times a day for work which sometimes involves looking up parts online to see what suppliers I can get through so this is quite annoying. Does anyone have an idea of a fix for this other than going back and doing a iCloud restore from my backup that happened early this morning? FWIW I could go to any website I wanted to before lunch.

I was looking at the one in the link provided because it has a battery backup which would be nice and also has a phone app option but I don't know that I would use that option as much, but it's belt driven and is supposed to be quiet.

Garage Door Opener - Opinions

Posted by RollTide MJ on 4/7/17 at 8:26 am
So my home got hit by lightning on Wednesday morning. My garage door opener was one of the few things that got hit. The current one I have now is a 1/2hp Chamberlin Liftmaster. It's pretty noisy so I am looking for one that is quiet.

What are your recommendations on a replacement?

Yeah, I think that would be a good idea. I know I won't always need a saw so shears would be handy in those cases.

I am new to the climbing stand world honestly. I just got back into deer hunting 3-4 years ago and growing up I was always scared of climbers. But I purchased a Summit Viper SD climber and my wife bought me a Hunter Safety Systems harness for Christmas. I've been doing some practicing out in the yard to get familiar with all of it and was finally able to get it on a tree and hunt Saturday morning. Loved it and could have sat there all day. But, when I got about 16-17 feet up I ran into a small limb that was just a little too thick to break with my hands so I figured I need to invest in a small saw.

BTW I think you can get them cheaper on Amazon. I'm not affiliated with Ben's but I have bought Opinels and Moras from them.

I'll definitely check out Amazon. That's pretty much where I do most of my shopping.

Recomendation - Compact Folding Saw

Posted by RollTide MJ on 12/28/16 at 10:50 am
Looking to purchase a good compact folding saw to throw in my bag for hunting so that I can saw small limbs off of trees as I'm using my climber. Any recommendations? I would preferably like it to be something that doesn't take up too much room.

ETA - For what it's worth, I was looking at a hooyman mega bite that folds up to around 6 inches.
What's up guys and ladies of the SECrant. I'm breaking a looooong stint of not posting to share this. I know from time to time, people wonder what former SEC athletes are up to now that they have left the school.

This one is about Lance Cormier.

This is a video about "Power Hour" that is held every Friday evening in Tuscaloosa at CrossFit Candor.

CrossFit Candor is owned and operated by Lance Cormier and his wife Jamie. Lance for those that may not remember was a pitcher at Alabama from 99-2002. He was drafted to the Diamond backs and had stints with the Braves, Orioles, Devil Rays, Dodgers, and back to the Devil Rays before retiring and moving back to Tuscaloosa with his wife (whom was a cheerleader at Alabama) and there children.

Check out the link below. This is filmed at their crossfit gym which I am also a member of.

eta: For those that may not want to watch the video, this is a video about how Lance and his wife open their crossfit gym on Friday afternoons for special needs children and work with them to help better their lives and help give them additional physical therapy within a gym setting. I've seen it in action and it's awesome to see the progress this kids have made and how happy they are to be doing it.

I just found this on the internet. May help, or may not.

Limited range of your remote controls could be related to radio frequency interference that comes from something in your home or in the surrounding environment. Certain electrical devices can radiate interference; this could be almost anything that is plugged into an electrical outlet.

Please keep in mind that the device can be brand new, or can be an item that has been in use for quite a while. Also, the item may continue to function properly as far as you are able to tell. The only problem with the item may be that it has started to broadcast the interference, with no other symptoms noted.

Some devices are more likely to generate interference than others. This includes TV cable, cable amplifiers, surge protectors, fluorescent lights, battery charging devices (power tools, golf carts, etc.), anything that utilizes a timer (sprinkler systems, lights, alarm systems, etc.), and a myriad of others. If the problem seems sporadic, we can safely assume that the device responsible for the interference is only being operated during these times. Again, please keep in mind that the age of the device does not determine if it is capable of broadcasting unwanted interference. Any electrical device can be the source of the problem.

To isolate potential sources of interference, turn the circuit breaker off to the garage and plug the garage door opener into an extension cord from another room. If the range improves, then the interference is coming from a device in the garage. If no improvement is seen follow the same procedure, this time turning off the circuit breakers to your home, with the exception of the garage and test the remote controls. If improvement is noted, turn the circuit breakers back on, one by one, until the range problem resurfaces. This will allow you to narrow down what room the problem device is in. You will have to go from there to isolate it further, by unplugging and re-plugging the items in that room.

re: best bass lure for pond fishing

Posted by RollTide MJ on 3/29/16 at 9:48 am
I think it depends on the pond itself. A buddy and I went to a friends pond the week before last. We fished a portion of the bank and didn't move 15-20 yards to the left or right and in 2 hours we caught 30+ fish on a rattle trap and a zoom 'ol monster worm. It was raining and slightly windy and I would say maybe 6-7 of the fish were 2lbs or under. The rest were 4-5lbs and the biggest weighed in at right under 8lbs.

Hunting check-in/sign-in app

Posted by RollTide MJ on 2/25/16 at 12:49 pm
We have leased some land for the upcoming deer season and there is not a great place to have a spot to sign in to let everyone know where you will be hunting at. I am looking for an app that we could all download that might accomplish this. Does anyone know of an app out there for this or that would work?
Thanks for all the opinions. What I am going with is a Ruger American in 30-06 with a Vortex Crossfire 3-9x50 scope. Going to pick it up tonight.

What are you planning to do with it, if your hunting, what size animal, what range, are you planning to hike with it? It would be good to know to direct you.

Deer / greenfield or woods. No hiking other than walking to a stand or shooting house.

Buying a rifle / Caliber question

Posted by RollTide MJ on 12/3/15 at 1:41 pm
I am sure this has been discussed before and if so please point me to the thread it was in.

I'm in the market to purchase a rifle. What I am wondering is some opinions on if you were buying, would you buy:

.270
30-06
7mm-08
7mag

I know there are pros and cons to each and I am hearing them from friends here at home. I am used to shooting a 30-06 more because that's what I grew up shooting but I don't want to limit myself to that caliber just because that's what I have been more used to.

Any opinions are appreciated.
