Probably the only coach in history who really can take his and beat yours or yours and beat his.
And he is 70 years old or something like that.

Bum Phillips said that about another coach.

We are too. This is a hell of a ride we're on.

He turned 70 on Halloween.
Bear Bryant dropped dead 6 months before his 70th.

How in the world did it take Saban until his 50s to start winning titles?

Did it take you this long?

He went to LSU and they made him great.

He had to get to a big time program like LSU to be groomed on success.

I don't really think that's true
His best attributes are roster management and man management (getting his players to buy in, etc.). He's good with Xs and Os too obviously, but that's not the main reason he wins

Yeah, especially considering all those back to back great seasons he had on the bayou.

Let’s not pretend like a lot of cold hard cash and the Bama mystique certainly didn’t hurt things.

Oh yeah, the perfect storm.

The two greatest coaches in the history of the game have something in common.

big time program like LSU
Come on man, LSU was not close to a big time program when Saban got there. Y’all had been mired in a decade or more of bad coaching hires. If not for Mark Emmerette who knows what would have happened at LSU.

Great Men become Great Men by one of two means: genius or experience.
Genius always manifests itself early, and geniuses usually accomplish everything they'll ever do before they're 30. And quite often they burn out and collapse after that.
The other way is experience. Men that work hard and diligently learn everything they can, and then marshal that knowledge and experience over the years to reach their goals. MacArthur was a boy genius in the army, but was outranked by Steady Eddie Dwight Eisenhower by WWII.
Nick Saban will be the first to tell you that he's no genius, but he works his arse off. He reportedly told Mal Moore "You've hired a horseshite coach, but no one will out-recruit me". Beyond his work ethic, Saban's secret sauce is always finding the best talent he can get his hands on for his coaching staff. This sometimes includes talented but damaged guys (Kiffin, etc).
So the Saban Formula:
Tireless Work + the Best Players + the Best Coaches

The little guy has balls of steel. I love seeing him chew out those big strapping football players. Sometimes they are on the verge of tears. God knows they could crush him with one blow but they all know instinctively that would be the end of them.

Yeah but with advancement in medicine, wasn’t 55 the retirement age then because most died before 60?

He doesn’t do this anymore.

Him and Miss Terry are solely responsible for raising the funds to upgrade your facilities. He made it alot easier to recruit because let's face it, y'all were not going to be able to get most of the top recruits with crappy facilities. Now after the facilities were upgraded, it was a match made in heaven.

Dead wrong. While I’m extremely grateful of what Saban did here at LSU, Mark Emmert is THE reason for LSU & the LSU football program raising 100’s of millions to upgrade facilities.
Recently hired Emmert took Cheap arse Joe Dean (our AD at the time) completely out of hiring the new football coach. It was a one man committee in Emmert. Emmert offered an unheard of $1.2 million a year to Saban. Emmert re-organized TAF and helped raise 100’s of millions to upgrade facilities.
Saban gets lots of credit, but it was Mark Emmert that hired him, raised the money, & gave him whatever he wanted to build up the program.
