Yes. That’s how state and fed govco does this thing called, making interstates.
Your highway 30 will have 4 or more lanes slapped beside or on top of it and be “renamed” I-14.
They won’t break up the name of an interstate from Odessa to Augusta so daniel can find his way to the Huntsville Sonic.
You’ll just have to adapt.

(a) The point of it is to connect military installations that now have no easy wide route
(b) Highway 80 isn't widely used by individuals, but it is very used by industry. Especially timber and agriculture.

You ever travel US 80? It's sparsely traveled. I'm not saying zero people or industry uses it.
But just do an analysis of other highways around the state. I guarantee every other US route gets more traffic with the possible exception of portions of 431 through East central Alabama.

Neither for or against this but you do understand this interstate is mainly connecting areas with little to no East and West interstate access. It’s main purpose is to get East and West access closer to possibly 10 military bases. Those of you complaining about areas not being serviced by this already have East to West interstate access.

Yea I do - not as frequently as 10 years ago but still some (Demopolis). It's definitely not bumper to bumper or anything, but there is at least some civilian purpose to it. The area of the state south of 20/59 and northwest of 65 has very limited rapid road transportation options, and there is quite a bit of large industry there between timber, agriculture, paper, etc.
But in the end the main thing is connecting the large military bases so that they can more rapidly move equipment and troops (Gordon/Robins/Benning/Maxwell). There aren't really many good options for them that don't involve (a) going through Atlanta and/or (b) going well out of the way.

The Georgia portion of this alone has probably been pushed by the military for a while.
A trip from Gordon to Benning currently means going 20 to Atlanta, dealing with Atlanta, then going down 85 and 185 to Columbus. Out of the way and filled with traffic.
A Robins to Benning trip is either driving on literally 2 lane roads (which I imagine is not allowed) or driving due north on 75 to Atlanta then back down 85.

This. Should create some economic benefit for middle Georgia, too. and hopefully bypass some traffic out of ATL (even if it means ramping up the traffic in Macon)

Yep - and even more and better access out of the Port of Savannah to West Georgia and Alabama. I'm not a Warnock guy but this is good, solid legislative work by him and Cruz.

Getting traffic off I-10 through LA would be a blessing
I guess it wouldn't need a new bridge over Miss River, that would be the major cost.

BR still needs another bridge or a loop or other major and critical interstate infrastructure work. I-14 will ease I-10 a bit, but not enough to make any significant impact in BR.
